Sony and Canon are the makers of the best small cameras imo. The DSC-W1 is one kick ass piece of shit:

Currently it's £218.99 from Amazon and about £199.99 from eBay

Dude, you CAN't get a better camera for that money! It's a no-brainer, GET AN A75!

.. + a decent 512mb or more CF card (eg Transcend 45x) and two sets of Maha Powerex 2300mAh batteries + charger.

I used to own a Sony F77 until it gave up on me then I was in search for something small and with ok pic quality and I came across the Casio Exilim Z40... 4mp, 3x optical zoom... 2" screen on camera and quite alot of functions... will post a pic of the view from my parents house in Hong Kong tomorrow morning... the pic quality doesn't look that good for indoors but I'll live. images/smilies/biggrin.gif

BOO-YAH!!

Went to Staples and my mother got my Christmas gift there, the Canon PowerShot A95 5MP Digital Camera!

http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/con...&modelid=10468

I saw the A75 but the screen was too dark. I couldn't get a good clear pic since it was indoors and lots of lights in the store. So I looked at other cams and saw the slightly more expensive, out of my original budget, Canon A95. I checked it out and fell in love. The motion capture was smooth and wihtout delay unlike other cams i was comparing it too and it had a cool but gimmicky fold out screen. It is soo cool and I loved the clear view I got on the screen. Zooming in and out, it looked good close, far and with all the stores lights it was able to auto adjust etc.

I'm a real noob at cams and stuff but comparing the A95 to the others made me finalize my choice so I got it.

I'll post some pics of my scale model cars on Christmas when I open it. images/smilies/wink.gif

Did I make a mistake, was it a good buy, $349? I saw it cheaper on Amazon but shipping would be nearly the same and with the free super savings shipping it wouldn't get here in time for Christmas so I don't mind having paid slightly more. I chipped in $50 but its a gift from my mom to me and I'm content with it. I CAN'T WAIT to use it!!

Let me know what you think of my choice. images/smilies/wink.gif

I think you'll find that it will be a great camera!

I haven't personally used the A95, but if it is anything like any of the other A series I've played around or my S30, it will be a great camera.

As much as the fold out screen may seem like a gimmick, believe me, you will be thanking yourself for getting a camera with one. My camera doesn't have one, and I find a lot of the time when I'm trying to take pictures in tight situations or very low to the ground I can't see enough of the LCD to get a proper shot.

The price may have been slightly high, but the only places I've seen it cheaper are in online stores. DpReview.com has it listed as low as $296 at Dell's online store. The shipping would probably equal out the price though.

(It's got a 4.5\5 rating on DpReview.com as well images/smilies/smile.gif)

Man, flip out screen!! lol

I loved that when I saw it!! Just like seeing the roof on the SL, sorta.

I'm gonna take it everywhere as I often see good cars on the road. Not too often but often enough, just today I saw a Dodge Viper GTS in silver and white stripes!!

ONE MORE IMPORTANT THING!!!

It came with a standard 32mb memory card. How much pics can I take with that and would I definitely need another one? images/smilies/mellow.gif

You will definetly need a bigger one.

If you are taking pictures at the highest quality, you will probably only be able to fit 5-10 pictures on the card. images/smilies/wacko.gif I have a 128MB and 256MB card for my digital camera, and I still fill both of them quite regularily. The last time I spent the day at the track I filled both cards completely.

Removable memory is finally getting cheap, so I'd recommned you get 256MBs or larger, especially since you have a 5MP camera.

I've just found the perfect companion for a digital camera - http://www.aigo.co.uk/view.asp?productID=13

http://www.aigo.co.uk/productimg/p750/p750_thumb.jpg

It has an MMC/SD slot for transferring data, so you take lots of pics, fill ur card, transfer em over, and start again images/smilies/smile.gif
