Inserting Subtitles in Movies

I downloaded a French movie in two 700mb files and joined them together using easy video joiner. With the two separate files I could easily insert subtitles, but now with the 1.4 GB file I can no longer insert subtitles. Anyone got a clue?

Also, for some reason whenever I open a folder of media files (Top Gear, Fifth Gear, etc.) my computer suddenly freezes and I have to ctl-alt-dlt to stop the problem. It happens all the time whenever I open up a folder. I'm not sure if it's a virus but I'm getting really screwed with it.

Why'd you join them? And you'll have to open up the subtitle files. They're designed for the 700 MB files (timestamps), so you'll have to do some major editing.

As for your folders, probably corrupt Thumbs.db files (the thumbnail cache). Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> uncheck hide operating system files. Delete the Thumbs.db files.

There is a Thumbs.db file in each folder that you've ever viewed in thumbnail mode.

Go to Tools->Folder options (when viewing any folder), in general change the "Web View" setting from "Enable web contents in folders" to "Use Windows classic folders". (And personally I'd do the same for the desktop setting).

I've been having this same exact problem, though it's not hppening all of the time. I'm hoping that deleting the thumbs.db files will fix it. I've previously searched the web for a solution to this and a lot of people have been experiencing this issue.

u can turn off the thumbnail caching altogether too

i had that thumbnail issue when i installed SP2, it crashed all the time i opened a folder with some media stuff in it. solution: do clean install

The main reason that happens is when there are some conflicting codec's. Explorer tried to render the preview shots, but somehow screws it up. That causes the windows to freeze.
