well, it certainly looks mighty impressive. i have read through and i think anyone thinking of buying a laptop soon should probably hold off just a little longer untill SR based lappy's appear...which could be any day now.
TR will be doing a round up review of the first batch of SR based laptops just as soon as they recieve them, which should be soon.
key features
* 800mhz FSB which is dynamically adjustable to save power when doing less power intensive tasks
* DX 10 capable integrated intel X3100 gpu sports 8 fully programable shader cores - supports HDMI and HDCP, can hardware accelerate decoding of WMV and MPEG2
* new Core 2 CPU's with further enhanced power saving features and a nice acceleration feature when using single threaded apps (one core shuts off, the active core is then overclocked)
*intel mobile 965 chipset - 3 SATA 3Gbps ports, 6x PCI-E x1 ports, 10x USB 2.0, and yet more power saving shenanigans.
* Turbo cache memory module... works similar to COAST (for those who can remember that) 1Gb or 512Mb module for use with Windows Ready Boost, as the memory is persistent it can be used to store boot files, leading to reduced windows boot times. it comes as an add in card or soldered directly to the mobo...at the moment it sounds like all of the SR laptops come with it, the add in card gives resellers more flexibility though
* Wireless N networking
* a crazy power saver that reduces the screens "refresh" rate from 60Hz to 30hz when doing tasks that dont benefit from the faster rate.
looks very good, and theres a whole host of power saving features on litterally every major piece of silicon. even if they are only small, they add up.
