Shocking now how it is easier to make sense of AMD's processor lineup than Intel's, for some reason.

This can't be good for intel's sales until they actually cut the prices - everyone will just wait.

If a company needs new computers they just buy them, same with Universities, although I reckon they get them pretty cheap or for free.
Add that to the fact that 80% of people who buy a computer don't have a fucking clue, it won't matter... If you are a nerd (15%) you'll get the best price/power for your budget anyway, and if you are a nerd who has to much money (5%) you simply don't care...

Conroe is gonna be well priced, from what we can read. So they have a price cut for other cpu's, AMD is also set to cut prices in July images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Intel wanted to break the trend of people thinking that processor speeds matter, since they can't really get the processor speeds any faster. So they obscured it with model numbers. They can keep speeds the same, but change the performance of the chip with other things, like different cache levels, FSB speed changes, etc...

Hopefully this Intel move will help drop the prices of the opterons, because I want a few for some servers. But I definitely want a Pentium D for some development work at home.
