Rep Power: 14 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It seems like the iphone 3G will be impossible to buy in the USA with no contract. A pay as you go plan won't be available in the USA. So far it seems that in Italy, we will be able to buy a 8GB iphone 3G with a pay as you go plan for 500 Euros. That's way to much for a iphone. Anyway, I won't spend any more than 600$ on a phone. It seems the iphone 3g will cost much more than that. So, I'm starting to look for alternative. What would you suggest? |

Rep Power: 29 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | At the moment I'd consider the following, from less than 600$ to (probably) a bit more: SonyEricsson G900 HTC Touch Diamond Samsung i900 Omnia |

Rep Power: 14 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The HTC Touch looks really ugly in my opinion. I had a look on the HTC site and the TYTN 2 looks quite cool. What do you think about it? |

| Evo-less | Dude, form a opinion of your own, find the details on a bunch of newer phones and choose.

Rep Power: 11 ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think Android won't be released for quite some time. Maybe at the end of the year. I don't think he'll get a Diamond or Touch Pro for 600$ without contract. I believe those phones cost or will cost 600+€. |

Rep Power: 14 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm using a "regular" N95 right now. It's utterly useless. It's unbelievably sluggish, it's always getting stuck and the build quality is terrible. The slider is really lose despite being fixed twice, there are huge panel gaps etc. I take great care of it and never drop it. All these faults are out of the box! I had a N80 before that and the build quality was so poor I sent it back as I thought it was faulty. I was sent a new one a few days later but it was exactly the same. Before the N80 i had a N70. The build quality on that was a worse than my 6630 I had before that. Nokia build quality is shit and the N95 is that last Nokia I'll be getting for a good while. Anyway, the HTC TYTN 2 seems quite nice (I saw some youtube reviews) and it's great value for money compared to the iphone. I think I'll wait for the 11th of July and see what the iphone pricing is like and if it's ridiculously expensive (and it seems like it will be), I may end up getting this. The Samsung i900 also looks good but I'll have to wait and see what the pricing is like. |

| Why don't you want to sign a contract for the iPhone? You'll only end up paying even more if you use it on T-Mobile. Unlimited Mobile Data: AT&T = $30/month T-Mobile = $40/month | |

Rep Power: 15 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Kinda unrelated question: So when the 3G comes out with $199, would this bring the iTouch price down to say like $150?

Rep Power: 26 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Kinda mentioned this in the iPhone thread. I went ahead and got the Samsung Instinct from AT&T. It's very awesome and totally an iPhone clone. It has visual voicemail, when you scroll through a list you just flick it with your finger (like in the iPhone). I can watch live TV and some other things (picture isn't that good, but decent). A few other cool things as well. It lacks wi-fi, but the sprint network is pretty fast anyway. The camera isn't that great. The browser is kinda sucky, and I'm waiting for Opera Mini to release something that works on it (I believe it's being worked on). $99 with Sprint. That includes unlimited calling, unlimited messaging (text, picture, video), and data. The phone itself is $129 after rebate. It came with an extra battery plus a charger for the extra batter, a regular case, stylus pen and a few other things.
