updates, well.... after id given em it straight back with the fan problems, still borked kb back light etc i left it almost 2 more weeks before trying to get in touch.

when i first rang... some clueless bint answered and after 5 minutes of wiping her arse she told me that its still in tewksbury. right. i said for fuck sake i need the damn thing back, you better hurry up. she promised to ring later...and this time i said... you better do, you've told me that numerous times then not bothered.

keeping her promise, she did ring back, and MAGICALLY my machine was in newcastle again! YAY..... but then i began to wonder if it'd actually gone anywhere at all.

went to pick it up and immediately noticed a couple of things....

1) a scratch right on the front of the lid, along with biro ink
2) upon switching on the fan issue certainly hadnt been addressed....within 2 minutes we were at 6000rpm
3) after making the guy take the damn thing to the toilet and turn the lights out he finally realised that there was indeed and uneven backlighting problem with the keyboard!!!

so in summary, they had it 2 weeks and sat on their thumbs for two weeks, only managing to add further damage to the machine instead of repairing it.

i was rightfully pissed off, and i had my parents with me this time so it was 3 against 2..... the guy in the shop (who actually stank of alcohol from the night before....that horrible yeasty smell on his breath that i know all too well comes from a heavy night on the sauce) said that he'd personally order the parts and fix the laptop himself, right there in newcastle and then ship it to my home. he even gave us his personal mobile number too.

i swear down they best get it right this time.... its their last chance, i absolutely must have it in the next 2 weeks as im going back to university.

Dude call this: 0800 048 0408 (UK) that is Apple UK and tell them your problem. They might be able to help you, just skip the store. Also hit up the apple support page, http://www.apple.com/uk/support/ and go to the forums and make a post about your problem. Someone in the UK can help you for sure.

well i got it back, just in the nick of time as im off to uni in the not too distant future (ie next week)

its had another new LCD/lid arrangement to solve the scratch they put on the machine, the fans are fixed which is good, temps seem to be around what they were originally which is good. the screen is a very good example by the looks of things, very bright, evenly lit.

the machines practically like new.

the only thing now, is that the back light for the keyboard doesnt operate AT ALL!!!, its not a major malady though, the machine is perfectly usable. im hoping the guy just forgot to connect the backlight up (uses a different connection than the keyboard), which he may of done if he was in a bit of a hurry. ( he promised the machine to be ready on wed, but the KB part wasnt due till the wed morning)

so glad to have the thing back!!
