| as the title above might seem technical, i'll explain. i've joined the few people on the forum trying out windows Vista. unfortunately, i installed it with the same computer name as my xp that i left on my computer on another partition. so, going back to xp, i can't login to my domain. done some tests, and the trust between xp and our win2000 server is lost. i need some help fixing this problem. right now, i cannot change the computer to a workstation without a domain. for some reason, it's locked to the domain, even though there is no trust. i've tried netdom.exe to try and force the trust bond, but to no avail. i can log on to the computer in xp, but not to the domain. vista is working fine now that i changed the computer name. but i need xp in order to play some games, namely LFS, as the beta ATI drivers right now make the screen really garbled. any help would be greatly appriciated as searching microsoft and msdn haven't turned up all that much. there's been a hit here and there, but nothing definitively like my problem. if more information is needed, let me know. | |

| Your Guide to TG/FG | I think I've seen this before (but I'm not sure and I don't know too much about this). Maybe this will work: Log on as a local user in to XP. Change your computer to be a member of a workgroup rather than a domain. Reboot. Log on as a local user again. Change your computer to be a member of a domain. Reboot. Log in as a domain user. |

gives an error of something like "Connection to Domain Controller could not be found". i've narrowed it down to just the trust between my xp and our win2000. just need to figure out how to get that trust back. | ||

| Your Guide to TG/FG | So it's not even letting you change it to workgroup? Weird. (I assume you've tried it with the network cable unplugged.) |

| yeah. i've tried everything i can. i'm surprised how locked up windows is if the trust between workstation and domain is gone. has to be some sort of bug that nobody but me has encountered. | |
