Default MacWorld San Francisco 2005

I'm sure there are some Mac fans in here who are anxiously awaiting for some new product. The show begins in a few hours, and perhaps this is the most important MacWorld to date. Reason is because of circulating rumors that Apple will unveil:
  • A budget "headless" Mac (sans monitor) starting at $500.
  • A flash-based iPod with 1GB, 240-song capacity, and no LCD display.
  • iPod mini HDD capacity upgrades.
  • An Apple/Motorola mobile phone with iTunes playback.
  • CPU speed bumps to the aging Powerbook G4. Perhaps a new Powerbook G5 along the way?
  • New office suite, iLife '05.

As for me, I really want a Powerbook for quite a while, but decided to hold-out until they announce the G5.

It's a low-spec slim mini-tower (or cube) targeted for those iPod Windows users who contemplating on switching to a Mac, but didn't because of the premium price. Not sure if it will have the G5 chip.

Currently the cheapest Mac is the $799 eMac.

Hell, I'd probably get one of these and ditch that crummy old Win98 box my sister is currently using, and just use the current PC's monitor without buying a new one.

Umm, good for you. You must spent your freetime clearing-out spyware, viruses, and all. images/smilies/wink.gif

(Don't worry, I use WinXP at home.)

Anyway, here they are...

Mac mini - Starting at US $499, ships end of the month
iPod shuffle - $99, on sale now

Done, and I'm spent. I think I'm going to get a Mac mini for my birthday.

I never had TechTV on my basic cable service. Would've been nice, but I heard it sucks now.

Apple didn't do a live webcast, so they should be posting the video on their site within a few hours.

It's a pile of shit, swek. Why get one of those when you could get something better for less from Dell?

I don't think that you can get a better deal in Germany at all. Keep in mind that prices in the US are generally much lower than here.
Just for the fun of it, show me the dell product and the price you pay in the US and I'll see what it costs here.

Ok, I'm not a Mac guy. I build my own PCs. But suddenly I have an uncontrollable urge to buy one of those with the DVD burner and make a wireless media center computer. images/smilies/drool.gif

I like Macs for professional work such as video editing and image manipulation and design, but due to their incompatibilities, I could never have one as a home computer. Plus, I can always just install Linux if I ever need anything like that images/smilies/biggrin.gif

It already runs on Unix. You can access the console, log on as root and everything. I'm just taken by how small the thing is. I mean c'mon, 2 freaking inches tall?!?
