Mp3 players, need some help..

I broke my good old i-river and I've just started shopping but I've been out of the mp3 player loop since 2005.

My main concern: good bass and excellent sound quality. It's been hard trying to find a replacement.

I tried 2 Sandisks, the Sansa USB-like key with terrible sound quality (the sound was "hollow") and another one, a Sansa 2G "clip" with an overcomplicated playlist function. It wasn't simply enough uploading the files but then I had to create a playlist with the same files.

I'm looking for an audio-only mp3 player. I would never use the video screen since it's a *music* player.

I'm having trouble finding unbiased review sites.

Any suggestions?

*No* i-pods.

Cowon D2 - AWESOME little player! I own one and love it.

They have a slightly newer one out now as well, but just about anything they are producing these days will kick the CRAP out of an Ipod. The only reason to get an actual Ipod is if you want to integrate it with everything in yoru life (car, house, etc.) other than that, I would stick with Cowon or Creative products.
