Default new 512mb memory

I want to buy a second 512 mb ram memory chip, and my first one is a 512mb pc3200 200mhz. In my local store they only sell the same chips with 400 mhz, so i dont know if they will work together very well? Should i buy this new one or search for the same i have now?

pc3200 = 400mhz ddr1 memory running in sync with a 200 mhz front side bus.

So the memory you have is probably the same speed as the stuff in the shop.

PC3200 = 200MHz, but because its DDR (Double Data Rate), it runs at 400Mhz images/smilies/smile.gif

Always try and keep identical sticks in your PC, but remember the rule, that all the sticks will run at the speed of the slowest one.

200MHz is 400MHz DDR. The memory goes through 200 million cycles per second, but it can transmit twice per cycle (once on the rising edge, and once on the falling edge of the signal), hence the "400MHz." images/smilies/wink.gif
