| Full Article: http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/10/29/geforce_8800_gt/ "In the end, Nvidia has taken its time, but offers an exceptional card with the GeForce 8800GT. For about $230 it nearly displays the power of a GeForce 8800GTX (under 3%) twice as expensive, with the only downside being a slightly lower memory capacity (512 MB instead of 768 MB) and a bandwidth 10% lower than that of a GeForce 8800GTS. However, in games, the latter is usually outperformed by 30% without filters (using the 320 MB version) by the GeForce 8800GT and the GTX is only 12% higher. We have to say that the transition to the 65 nm process meant the arrival of more than just a couple of G92 on a wafer. By the way, this chip boasts 754 million transistors. It's small, consumes less than a GeForce 8800GTS 320 MB, and the 8800GT is also quite silent despite its single slot cooling system." ![]() All I can say is, if you're looking for a new video card, this is the one to get right now ![]() Tom's Hardware says: "We give the Nvidia GeForce 8800GT our Best Bang for the Buck Award."

| Cracking card for the money, even better than the fire-breathing monster that is the HD 2900XT. Bolt up one of those crazy Thermalright coolers to this, and I think you're left with a very powerful card, for less than $300.

| Lazy Head Dude | Man oh man, I wish I could buy one. Pretty damn cheap too. Sadly, I'm on AGP and I need a whole god damn new PC. ![]()

| I doubt your 6800GT taxes it as much as you think.. even those 8800GTX can run SLI x16, which is just two AGP connections, and not lose any performance. At least for now, there's no real benefit to PCI-E.

| Lazy Head Dude | I knew it wasn't maxxing it out as there were newer cards that came out after mine that still used AGP, but I was under the impression that the best AGP card I could get wouldn't be worth the money in terms of performance gains and that the money would be better spent on a whole new PC.

| Well, alot of it depends on your CPU. Using the 8800GT AGP card with an older CPU isn't going to give you the same results as you'd have with a current gen processor.

Car: Honda Jazz Rep Power: 12 ![]() ![]() ![]() | I've just ordered my Evga 8880GT and new Samsung 22" monitor. Both these components have come out in the last 1-2 weeks so I'm future proof for some time. This card is simply great and It's going to be ideal for CoD4 and Crysis in 3 weeks time I've just noticed they've only got 7 more preorders left where I got mine ![]() Also, if you get the evga version you get a 3 month step up garauntee. So if Nvidia goes and releases their 9 series in Januaray 2008, which is quite possible. You can just pay the difference between the cost of the 8880GT and that. There's also a new 8880GTS out next month and depending on the performance of that, that could also be worth trading your 8880Gt for, (I doubt it though).

Also to Lilleput i'd say the Core 2 Duo is the good, since them quad cores aren't really worth, unless u wait till they release the new range of them, cause they will be true quad cores and they will be worth it. Im sure the 8800GT isn't as good as the 8800GTX cause it would be silly of them to release a product that would diminish the sales of one of there flagship cards. Epically if u could almost buy 2 of them for the price of 1 8800GTX and then put them in SLI. I'm waiting for 8800GTX and a 1000W PSU to come down to a price around 500 - 600 AU so i can get some SLI happening. Also just found out that the bit's on the GT is less then the GTX, and that the GTX supports duallink DVI-I while theres only one for the GT, i tried to find out more but card is sorta new, id say that its a cheaper upgraded version of the GTS, still if performance is good, why would people get 1 GTX or a Ultra when 2 GT's could do the job exactly the same if not better ????
