Im pretty sure the problem was fixed in a Driver Update.. Some time ago.

Which one of their problems? There isn't just one issue floating around in their drivers.

Not for me, and not for a lot of people it seems. I've seen a few "fixes" online for the issue, but none of them took care it for me. Everything from changing some settings in Bios to removing Aero to changing Vista to the "Classic" theme. Didn't fix anything.

I know it wasn't a hardware issue with the cards. I tested every single video card out on my friend's PC that's still running XP and they all worked great.

I never had any issues while running XP on my machine (well, no issues with nVidia drivers at least) and I never had problems running Vista over the last year + without games.

My laptop has an nVidia 8400M GT in it. So far, so good. I was a little hesitant to buy it because of that, but so far it seems to be stable running Call of Duty 4. I haven't tried Crysis just yet. Don't want to push my luck.

I did, and this;

isn't the result of one specific issue. I've walked through enough of those dump files to know that.
