Default Noob windows wallpaper question

I have dual screens of different sizes so I made a wallpaper that would fill both in photoshop, but I can't figure out how to set it in such a way that it works.

Here is what I want to use.
http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/488/crysiswalljpghj8.th.jpg
And here is a screenshot of my desktop
http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/3960/desktopkk7.th.jpg
How do I get that huge wallpaper to fit properly (if its even possible)?

Well, if you had a Nvidia card, it's very easy to have 2 seperate wallpapers for each monitor (feature built into the nView Manager). Haven't used an ATI card in awhile, so I'm not sure if it's as easy to do in your situation.

However, you can also use software such as UltraMon to do stuff like this. Great program for dual monitor setups. I can't live without it images/smilies/smile.gif

One of the best UltraMon features is that it gives you a serparate taskbar for each monitor, plus it adds buttons to each window so that you can instantly move a window to your other monitor. No need to drag it over. Great for multi-tasking.

Well, I ordered an 8800GT on saturday, so once that arrives, will I be able to solve my problem more easily?

EDIT: Downloaded ultramon, will install that and see how it goes.

EDIT2: SUCCESS!!!

Glad to hear UltraMon worked for you, its been good to me for years now images/smilies/smile.gif

I like to have one big wallpaper accross both my monitors (works good with pics from my 7MP camera) Ultramon doesn't stretch the image, but it autocrops it for a nice look.

Here's an example of my dual monitor desktop with an picture I took while traveling through the mountains:

That only works well if you have two identical monitors. It'd look a bit funky with my 24" and my 17". images/smilies/tongue.gif

http://pic.phyrefile.com/v/vi/viper007bond/2008/04/07/duallies.png

It doesn't look too bad in that screenshot, but the size difference is more pronounced in real life due to the large difference in DPI and visible screen height (10" vs. 14"). If I put a window across my two monitors for example, it's much taller on my 24" than it is on my 17" meaning that on my 17", all text, cursors, etc. are shrunk smaller.

Basically, imagine that right wallpaper about 75% of it's screenshotted size. images/smilies/wink.gif

Yeah, I'm in the same boat as Viper. I have a 21" crt @ 1600x1200 and a 15" LCD at 1024x768.

Yeah, you guys are right. Wouldn't work in your case. However, it looks pretty nice if you have two identical monitors images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I have two 19" LCDs at 1280 x 1024. Exact same brand/model, so they the screens are level straight across. It's almost like having one big monitor, with a black bar in the middle.

The program has a lot of other features besides wallpaper stuff.

I wouldn't want to go without it on a dual monitor setup.

Just having two separate taskbars makes UltraMon extremely valuable. I'd use it if that's the only feature it offered images/smilies/smile.gif

I can't wait until I get my triple monitors... images/smilies/twisted.gif

Which leads me to another question. If I have one Nvidia video card (8800GT) and a PCI ATI video card, will I have a driver issue?

absolutely no idea, but why the hassle? just get a USB VGA dongle and you can plug in as many monitors as you want.

Triple monitor setup sounds pretty damn good, if the prices for 22" is good, i might buy another one to try it out.

okay.. just tried ultramon and i have to say that its quite a nifty little program. It allows me to expand the window to stretch across two monitors which is quite nice, and the fact that it can extend the taskbar across both screen is also a plus.

What i cant get to work is multimedia files, i cant get movies to stretch acorss two screens, one side will appear blank while the other side is fine. I think it has to do with hardware acceleration or something like along the lines.

Thats sounds like a good deal, but I dont think your system will be too happy with both ATi and nVIDIA card... Is there no PCI nVIDIA card for sale?

Also, you can have a taskbar for each monitor (Smart Taskbar), that way if you have programs open on one monitor, they aren't cluttered over on the other monitor's taskbar. Great for people like me that usually have 10+ things open when I'm working. Really helps keep the work flow less cluttered and more organized.

What i cant get to work is multimedia files, i cant get movies to stretch acorss two screens, one side will appear blank while the other side is fine. I think it has to do with hardware acceleration or something like along the lines.
hmmm, not sure....works fine here. I can stretch movies across both monitors.

Actually, the whole idea of me doing 2 video cards is so I can run triple monitors at all times, even while playing demanding games such as crysis. The plan is to run both of my 21" CRTs at 1600x1200 off of the little PCI card and run the 22" LCD that I'm asking for for my birthday off of the 8800GT.

Is the one I would probably get, because it has 2 output jacks.
