After searching around, all you need to do is buy a digital coax cable and switch to digital via the drivers. I recommend monoprice.com for the cable, as they have quality cables at reasonable prices.

In the future, please be kind enough to provide more detail in your posts. images/smilies/wink.gif

Eww, onboard audio. I have that exact same motherboard, but I use an Audigy 2 ZS. Worth the money and saves CPU cycles and whatnot.

Plus it has digital out and all that good stuff.

... I ask Herb Helbig, vehicle synthesis manager for SRT and a member of the original Team Viper development group since day one, if they'd ever thought of adding traction control. "It comes with two," he says, pointing at my feet. "Learn to use them." Got it.

^ Amateur. Onboard or not won't matter using a digital connection, all of the processing is sent down to the amplifier in the speakers.

He could have a $200 soundcard, once it's plugged into digital it wouldn't matter. images/smilies/tongue.gif

Well, in my defense, I'm using analog 99.99999% of the time since I use my audio drivers to clone my 2 channel source (music, radio, etc.) into a 5 channel output.

Actually, it does matter, because of a nasty little thing called jitter. Higher quality equipment causes less of it. If his speakers do buffering and reclock of the digital stream, it really wouldn't matter, but the truth is, even high-end external DACs rarely do that.

Truth be told, I have no idea whether switching to a SoundBlaster would make any difference. images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Do a google search on "jitter effects on sound quality" if you're interested.
