If Firefox crashes, when you open it again, it'll ask if you want to open the tabs you had open. This has been a feature since version 2. In version 3 they added the ability to save the tabs you have open when closing the browser (although you can get the same ability in FF2 with a plugin).

Not sure what advantage this has over regular bookmarks or bookmarks in the toolbar, but FF3 added "Smart Bookmarks", which keeps track of most visited/recently bookmarked/recently tagged websites. I just use the awesome-bar now, though, since it's so much quicker to have it search through URLs and page titles.

FoxyProxy. Going through the "Funny Pictures Thread" would be either extremely disappointing or extremely slow without it. To access certain sites, I need to route some of my traffic through TOR, which is much slower than normal browsing. FoxyProxy lets me define this based on URL, so I don't have to load everything through it.

Usually, there's at least one plugin that Firefox has that prevents someone from switching to another browser. Plus, the upgraded address bar in FF3 is hugely convenient.

An awesome site for Advanced opera users:
http://operawiki.info/CustomButtons

A great minimalist skin for opera users!
http://my.opera.com/community/custom...rystal&x=0&y=0

Opera can easily toggle proxy via the F12 menu.

Well its only on crashing which I don't mind but if I want to go somewhere and I can safely close the browser without hesistation. Good to hear that its coming to FF3 but m sure I would get tired of clicking "Yes" or whatever that might come.

For me speed dial is much better. Here is an photo to give you a idea.

So basically when you click one of them you will goto them.

Then you just check the "Do not ask next time" box.

I like the preview icons, but FF's bookmark toolbar does the same thing without having to use the whole window:

http://pic.phyrefile.com/c/ch/chaos386/2008/06/16/Screenshot.png

What's really neat is that if I middle-click the Newegg folder, it'll open up each page in a new tab.

I don't think you understand. FoxyProxy is a proxy switcher. To switch proxies in Opera, I'd have to go into the options and change the settings each freaking time I wanted to use TOR. It'd essentially make the feature unusable to me (unless there's quick proxy-switching in Opera). I also don't see what the problem with add-ons is. You can do pretty much anything you want with them, or leave them out if you don't want the bloat. FF also keeps track of updates for them, which is nice.

EDIT: Just thought of another thing: can you drag 'n' drop tabs in Opera?

Oh, sorry, I must have missed that...

Yes, as you already found out it's just a linked tab but you can open a new instance of opera and drag and drop that linked tab to the new instance. It still works linked and you can arrange those two Opera-windows in Windows as you like.
If you have only one tab opened you can create a linked tab and arrange those two tabs that they both use half of the screen (right click on the tab bar -> Arrange -> Tile Vertically or just Shift + F6).

The preview icons are "add-ons" which can be deactivated, and of course there is a bookmark toolbar (which can be deactivated or dragged wherever you like) in Opera, too.

In Opera there is a separate menu item for "Open All Folder Items" so you have to click once more.

F12 -> check or uncheck "Enable Proxy Servers" (if you only want to use TOR or not - if you have different proxies then it's not that easy since you can only define one proxy per protocol [HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, Gopher, WAIS]) but you can define exceptions for local sites and certain websites so the proxy isn't used, even if it's activated.

Yes, you can have anything you want, but you have to search (and play "try and error") in the first place. What if an extension isn't developed further and a new Firefox-version comes out? Then you have to search (and play "try and error") again.

Of course, be it within the window or to another running instance of Opera.

That might work for my desktop, which only needs TOR or nothing, but the laptop uses three proxies (TOR, Campus network, Nothing), so it wouldn't work there. Then again, I want *most* sites to go through proxyless, and only have certain ones go through the proxy (TOR), so I'd still be manually switching between the two.

Searching doesn't really take that long (you search once and then use it. It's not like you're re-searching the same add-ons every three weeks or something...). You're right about some of them not being updated for new versions of Firefox, though. I miss DictionarySearch. images/smilies/sad.gif On the plus side, anything remotely useful will be actively developed 99% of the time.

The bottom line is that they're still available, which is more than can be said for other browsers.

OK, that's a feature Opera doesn't provide but 99.99% of the users want it "on" or "off". images/smilies/wink.gif

In Opera you have that feature already built-in (sadly this feature isn't alterable so you have to live with babelfish), and you have the option to define searches via rightclicking in a search box of a dictionary of your choice and choose "Create Search" so you have that option in the "Search With"-submenu.

Yes, I know Firefox has the feature I last mentioned, too. images/smilies/wink.gif

The only reason I like Opera is because it feels more solid and smooth. The rendering of the pages just seems smoother. The real thing for me though is the scrolling, it takes a while to get used to, but its amazing compared to other browsers.

Well I'm one of the millions who downloaded Firefox and I have to admit I'm not all that impressed with it. So I looked through this thread and decided to give Opera a try. Wow it feels so much quicker than Firefox ever was! I'll give it a few days before I hand out my final verdict but from what I've seen so far I think I have a new favorite browser.
