I guess even though they plan to supply larger numbers than MS with the 360, you still won't be able to buy one the first few months without preordering... I guess 6 million people worldwide want it as a Bluray Player!!! It should be almost have the price of the standalone players...

The release date don't interest me that much, it's more the price of the thing. If the prices are reasonable near the prices of the 360, my guess is the PS3 will own the console market pretty hard. i'm just not that optimistic about the price...

The cell processor is 128 bit, I think, and it has 8 of them, well 8 cores anyway... Or was there a 9th for controlling???

capable of 8, only using 7...

Also the november date is for a japanese launch... I REALLY doubt we will see any here in the states before 2007... Sony can't do an effective release on anything, ever, soo I don't think the PS3 will be any different, plus they will have lost an entire year to Microsoft.

Also, I was reading today that they still haven't shipped final dev kits, which means there is still a significant amount of work before the games will be ready for shipping.

Price will not be less than 50.000YEN (~$425USD)

It may be, but the last company to try a worldwide release, still doesn't have product on shelves. What seriously makes you think that Sony will be any better after the PSP and PS2 distribution problems?

Also, I'm quite happy with my 360, i'd buy a PS3 if I could get one on release day, but I learned my lesson with the 360... release dates for consoles don't matter, they won't actually be available that day... The real release date will likely be June 2007, the day when you can walk into a store and buy a PS3 off the shelf.

However by this November, there should be 360s available on the shelf for people to buy when they can't find the elusive dinosaur of a PS3.

Thanksgiving is the last Thursday in November, the start of the big holiday shopping season here in the states. images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Who want to bet that it'll get pushed back. Didn't the ol' PS2 come in real late?

I'll probably buy one in time for the next release of either Gran Turismo or Grand Theft Auto. Its waay to expensive to begin with unfortunatly.
