Default Projecy Honey Pot, sign up!

projecthoneypot.org

It's for website owners, bloggers and the like...I signed up today myself. It's like a large DB of known bad IP's, WordPress bloggers will know it's something like Spam Karma and Bad Behavior, its just another defence against evil spammers images/smilies/smile.gif

Project Honey Pot is the first and only distributed system for identifying spammers and the spambots they use to scrape addresses from your website. Using the Project Honey Pot system you can install addresses that are custom-tagged to the time and IP address of a visitor to your site. If one of these addresses begins receiving email we not only can tell that the messages are spam, but also the exact moment when the address was harvested and the IP address that gathered it.

It's owned and operated by Unspam, these guys...I'd say they're doing good.

Unspam Technologies has filed a billion-dollar lawsuit against "John Doe" spammers for violating the CAN-SPAM Act and the Virginia Computer Crimes Act.

Unspam filed the suit in the Eastern District of Virginia on behalf of members of Project Honey Pot, a distributed, open-source project that aims to help Web site administrators track, stop, and prosecute spammers. The suit seeks damages for spam and e-mail address harvesting targeting the project's members. Harvesting is the use of spidering programs to trawl the Internet for e-mail addresses that can be added to spammer lists.
