| Hey all, just gotta quick question to put to you. Some time between Christmas and New Year ill be getting either a PS3 40Gb model or a XBox 360 20gb or maybe a 40gb if they make one that size im not too keen on a 120gb version. Price isn't an issue well shouldn't be. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions? It will be played on a 1080p LCD screen and eventually connected to the internet. I know Xbox has better games out but the thing is all the games you can get on Xbox u can get on PC, which is no problems. Sony licensed games are only for a PS eg. like Killzone 2, MGS, GT5. With saying that im more tempted by a PS3 but then there is the online play of Xbox Live, which really evens it out again. Hows the online play of PS3 cause i've never really heard much apart from comments that its crap compared to Xbox. The PS3 has a Blu Ray player and xbox has HD-DVD but atm there is no tell what will be around the longest, which is a factor since parents will use it for watching movies. Are both or either backwards compatible with DVD's im not to sure Any help will be greatly appreciated. cheers 8)

| If I were you I would choose depending on the games. I'va always chosen my consoles depending on the games I want to play. I chose my PS3 because of Gran Tursimo 5 and Metal Gear Solid because THESE are the games I want. The rest just doesn't matter to me. The same happened when I bought my GameCube, I knew it would have the Resident Evil remakes and I decided to buy it. I didn't sell too well but God I enjoyed the games I wanted to play. So I think I would make a list of the games you like and want to play and go for the console who has the most of them. | |

| I bought my 360 to play Blue Dragon and ended up in love with Mass Effect. Keep in mind that the odds of the 360 getting Final Fantasy and God of War is low. Also remember that if you choose the 360 keep an eye out for the rrod.

| Global Moderator | It depends on your personal preference. Which games you want the most will decide the system for you. I own both, because each system has it's strong points. I personally bought the 360 first, and just recently bought the PS3. I also own about 20 - 30 games for my 360, wherein I have 4 for my PS3. The 360s are much better now about not rrod-ing. My launch 360 (manufactured 11/2005) survived until last weekend. I've sent it back to the repair center and from what i've heard when they return from the repair center the likelihood of it ever rroding again is VERY VERY low. I would assume that new stock wouldn't have the same problems as the older ones did.

| I just picked up my 360 solely to play XBL Halo 3 and Forza 2. I might pick up COD4 too. The compatibility with my computer is becoming really nice. Just need to figure out this damn Window Media Center connection. I wish I would have gotten it a long time ago to stream content from my computer to the TV.

| Easiest decision you'll ever have to make, get a 360. It's cheaper, there are much more games available for it, rather than PS3, plus MS bought 2 extra episodes & some extra content for 360 GTA4 version. The only point FOR PS3 could be Blue-ray, but actualy HD-DVD is more popular than BR, & when you need it, simply buy an extranal player for 360/tv, which is even available now & will get cheaper in time. If you are a fan on Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo & Metal Gear soldi franchises, which are the 3 upcoming giants on PS3, get it, but for anything else = 360.

| I had this choice earlier this year, I went with the 360 and have not had one regret. I might sell it once GT5 comes out however, I was told Forza would be just as good if not better, but IMO its not. Whenever GT5 finally comes out, the $400 PS3 looks to be in my future. It really depends on what games you love, forget about all the extra crap because you are buying a game console. You have a computer to talk to people and get information, you have a DVD player to watch movies, this is for games. | |

another good thing about xbox is, that it has arcade games... but most importantely they've finally put in divx/xvid capability.. so you can stream fresh downloaded top gear onto your bigscreen TV 8) overall, it probably depends on your game preferences..

Like others have said, it's entirely up to your gaming preference, people can provide you with information, but it is still their opinion/choice not yours. If you have friends with either system, check them both out yourself. Quote:

| I have them both; I recommend the XBox 360 because of the number of good games. It's cheaper and has a TON of good games out for it. If you want HD-DVD you have to buy the external drive. The PS3 is nice but expensive, and really the killer games aren't there. I have Resistance:Fall of Man and Motorstorm that I think are good. Naturally I bought the thing for Gran Turismo and Tekken (hmm, same way I ended up with a PS2). Online play-wise, XBox Live is really well thought out, but you have to pay for a membership (boo). Sony's online strategy by comparison is poorly planned and hit-or-miss. It's left to every game to support the online play infrastructure, servers, etc. while on XBox Live it's integrated into the console. Lately they've added an "online store" like XBox Live has had from day one. Graphics-wise they are equals IMO. XBox makes you do component or VGA, PS3 has HDMI. | |

| Global Moderator | New Premium or Elite Xbox 360 systems have HDMI support as well.

| Its only really the older consoles that broke, the new ones are fine. But even if it does break, their warrenty is excellent, mine (I got it at the Australian launch) only took 4 days to get back to me after I sent it. | |
