Actually, having said that, I don't really want one but I wouldn't say no to having one built into a phone. For instant PowerPoint presentations. Because, you know, there are so many occasions where I'm sitting down and thinking, I wish I could suddenly present a slideshow to you all.

Yeah, those things are neat, but they need to get a lot better before anyone can honestly justify buying one.

Woot! I'll be receiving my tax returns soon!!!
New Macbook Pro/other laptop here I come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am trying to decide whether I should get a pair of UE custom IEMs + a cheaper laptop, or just bite the bullet and go for the more expensive MB pro, which I do like. I intend on keeping this new laptop for quiet some time.

Well, assuming you'd be using the IEMs with the laptop, I'd say get the MBP now and save a while for the 'phones based on the goodness I've heard about the audio in MBPs compared to cheaper stuff.

I'd use the IEMs with anything really, but I guess I can always save for those later. I have a 25% off any UE custom monitor thingy.
next question would be 13" or 15"

Dunno, I prefer using my 14" work laptop over this 15" one for webbernetting in bed, because it's much lighter and therefore comfortable and easier to move aside so I can chase the dog. If you will only be doing similar things I'd recommend the 13", but I can see how that'd feel too small for regular use.

Perfect solution, buy a 13" and a monitor/keyboard/mouse with the money you saved by not buying the 15". That way you have the portability and a big screen for when you're at home

I already have a pretty decent desktop, so I use that when I'm home.
The MB pro will be for on the go, so the portability of a 13" is probably what I need. The 15" isn't that much bigger though...

When I started college, I got a 15" laptop while a friend got a 13." It really does make a difference, 13" is a lot easier to carry around.

The 13" is also half a kilogram lighter than the 15", it can make a difference after a day on your back

Then 13" it is.
Not to mention its cheaper. Got to get a copy of Win7 for the MB pro. Whats the minimum required space for OSX?

^On a related note, is it possible to completely strip OS X out and just have Windows 7?

Sure, but that kind of defeats the purpose of getting a Macbook...

Reinstalling Windows suuuuuucks. At least it's not really boring - it's different every time! This week's flavor: how do we make sure that the correct hard disk gets the correct drive letter?! I got halfway through installing my hardware drivers before realizing I was installing them into my slave drive... rinse and try again.
