Rep Power: 22 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I just got a mint PSP at a really good price. It's version is 2.60. I read about and it seems that if I want to play games form the memory card I need to downgrade to version 1.50. I found a few tutorials but they weren't very clear. Did anyone here downgrade their PSP and could help?

| Sure. Always Ready to help a fellow PSP owner ![]() There was a a earlier thread also, so you might want to check that out as well. 2.60 eh? Lets see. 3 Methods are there. 1. Okay I found this thread at DCEMU and it gives a direct program to downgrade your PSP. But after reading it and some other threads I won't recommend it. Why? 1.There is this thing "dump" if you don't have it you get a brick. 2.There are motherboard issues. 3.and I think you need the GTA UMD. 2. I highly suggest a Pandora battery. Its basically a non usable battery which puts the PSP in the service mode. And with some files in the memory stick you can dowgrade. Yes a Memory stick is neccesary. If you want to find more about what the battery exactly do Wiki is there to help You can buy pandora batterys. Here is one for $27.95 (€ 19.56) One for $39.99. More money but its a Datel Tool Battery. Im sure if you looked around you can find a good deal. 3. If you don't want to spend money you can make your own with a battery that you have. This is how I did it. This involves - 1.Taking apart your battery 2.Desoldering a very small pin from the circuit in the battery 3.Then lifting it without touchuing anything else. It sounds risky but its fairly simeple. Now you can convert the battery back to a useble one as well so no worries about that. Check around videos at youtube. It will massivly help you. It did for me. I highly reccomend looking at this guys videos Hes really helpful and he helped me also. His videos are clear and detailed. Here is one fore taking apart your battery. Over here So those are the ways you can downgrade your PSP. See what you like best and are most comfortable with. And reply after you went though the WHOLE post. (Even the links )My reason why I took apart my battery. 1.I was at 3.50 so no program was available. 2.I really liked to buy a battery but I didn't have the money. Hope I helped Last edited by Archie411; July 9th, 2008 at 01:31 PM.. Reason: Spelling | |

Rep Power: 22 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | First of all thanks! I had a look at the links you posted and I don't like the battery idea. I am not going to take apart my battery and buying one is a bit of a waste. I would really rather go for a software hack and not a hardware hack. Is there any safe software hack? I don't want to risk turning my PSP into a brick.

the pandora battery is really the best way seriously also if you get a pandora battery you can use it to unbrick your PSP if somehow you do brick it.

As long as you have your PSP battery at 100% and the power adaptor is connected you won't have any problems. But bear in mind using a software hack always has the risk of bricking your PSP whereas with the pandora bettery you haven't.

| Well first check if your GTA:LCS is patched or not. Visit Here (Mine is patched lol never knew that )Then I suggest you go with Vltros and be carefull with your motherboard stuff. (TA-whatever thing) IF your GTA IS patched, insterd of buying another game I reccommend the Pandora Battery. (Just a reminder )Oh and here is a thread regarding the Motherboard. | |

| I've modded quite a few PSPs, so let me clarify: If you have 2.60 you don't need a Pandora Battery to downgrade/switch to custom firmware, and you don't need GTA either. All you need to do is upgrade to 2.71, then use the 2.71 downgrader: http://calo-hacks.com/2.71downgrader.html Then once you are downgraded to 1.5, you can then update to latest custom firmware ![]()

REMEMBER don't downgrade unless you've got the PSP's baterry al 100% and it is connected to the electric plug otherwise you will have high probabilities to brick your PSP. ![]()

| I updated my post. There is an even easier way to do it by upgrading to 2.71 and then using the 2.71 downgrader. That way you won't even need GTA ![]()

| So you have the TA-082 motherboard? Otherwise you should use the 2.71 downgrader. The instructions for each downgrader are in the README file after you un-rar the download. Remember the first step is to update to 2.71 or 2.80. You can download the official Sony 2.71/2.80 firmware here: http://www.psp-hacks.com/category/36

Rep Power: 22 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have managed to downgrade to version 1.50 Thanks to all that helped me ![]() Just a final question, how do I run the games from the memory card?

| Now you need to install custom firmware so you can run all the latest games, plus get all the other benefits of newer firmware. It will automatically create a folder called "ISO" and you just put all your game ISOs in there and you'll be able to access them from your game menu. Get custom firmware here: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1134

Just put the ISO i9n the ISO folder and that's it!! Remeber to have an UMD inside your PSP otherwise the game won't work. The Custom Firmware fools the console telling that the UMD inside it's the game you want to play even if it isn't. And you also can play any PSOne games.

| Assuming you have the fat PSP, you can make your own Pandora battery. I highly suggest you use the 3.90 M33 firmware and not the new 4.01 as there aren't any significant changes as of yet. Shame Sony still hasn't added DivX support to the PSPs yet. You don't actually need a UMD inside to play games from your ISO folder. I think this only applies for a few games, but I have yet to come across a game where a UMD is regquired. I think you just have to go into the console (hold R when your booting up the PSP) and changing the UMD settings. off topic: Playing GT2 on the PSP is great, but it always seems to freeze at certain levels so I can't earn enough money to buy a new car . Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I'm playing the US version.

| You know you want me.. | Agreed, 3.90 M33 is the way to go. It's bloody simple to upgrade to, and has network update capabilities.
