| Wants Rick Astley's Babies | As long as you are clear of the disadvantages in DLPs, there isn't that much to go wrong. All of them last 8000 hours before the lamp change, which equals 3 years of excessive TV usage, they are all 720p and the disadvantage of small degrees of perfect visibilty are getting better as well... Still, I strongly suggest you check out the Sony 50" rear projection thing, since it is very cheap, but nonetheless has the best picture in the class... And consider LCD, since it will last about 60000 hours without any projection unit changes. If you watch a LOT, or your family does, you might be better off with an LCD... I recommend the Toshibas... But then I don't know what's what in the Us...

Rep Power: 28 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I recently bought a 42" Vizio Plasma HDTV. From costco at like 1,500 bucks (they had a $300 dollar off promotion). Picture is good, the sound on some of the channels seems a bit off though....i have to try and figure out what the deal is what that.

http://samsung.com/Products/TV/dlptv/index.asp I have had a 46 inch Sammy DLP for about 3 years now, forget the model number, but i love it. for price:performance, it was unmatched, and has withstood usage very well. i have a home built HDTV DVR pumping it via DVI @ 720p, and it looks great. the 8000 hour bulb is a half life measurement i believe (after 8000 hours, the bulb puts out 1/2 as much light as a new one) 8000 is 2 years, 9 months of viewing 8 hours of television everyday. thats a bit of viewing time.... | |

| Wants Rick Astley's Babies | The 1080p ones only start from 56" upward. Anyway, I looked into a german mag this morning and they tested a couple of DLPs. Samsung was the worst in the test, but still had a good to very good rating. Best was the JVC, although that was the about 70" one. Also very good: Sony and Sagem (dunno if they sell that in the US...) Overall, I guess you can hardly make a mistake... Especially if you get a good deal on the TV...

Car: 911, 328i, Golf, '71 Vespa Sprint Rep Power: 0 ![]() | again, i love my sammy. thats only a seat of the pants thought no lab type tests, i dont really watch much 4:3 content, and only watch dtv television and dvds. the OTA DTV looks freaking amazing, the HD i get looks far better than the local (comcast) cable HD offering. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forum...aysprune=&f=63 the above link is the best place to read up on real life experience with rear projection, avsforum is a great resource, and there is a lot of user experience there. |

| Wants Rick Astley's Babies | AVSforum helped me a lot at times, so I clearly recommend that as well... And never forget one thing: If you got that TV in your house, you will love it. It looks always bigger and better than at the dealer where there are other more expensive ones next to it. Modern TVs are good, you can't make any mistake if you buy a brand...
