Saving Flash Movies and Converting

Hey, Is there any way of saving flash movies and converting them into a more suitable movie format for use on a dvd say? I'm specifically looking at the race recaps on f1.com which I love, and I'm thinking of making a little dvd of them all towards the end of the season for my viewing pleasure. Is there any way to do that?

Obviously if Bernie sees this I would be saving them for my own personal use and not as any sort of money making venture in case I could possibly steal 1p away from his £100000000000000 fortume.

You're not going to get a good quality video by converting from flv to avi or any other format but nonetheless here's how to do it.

Get an addon for firefox to dl the videos, one of these is "Amazing Media Browser": https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1468

Dl the file that you want and it should be saved as a .flv. Convert using Media Converter: http://www.mediaconverter.org/

Cheers, will give it a go.

Edit: No luck. Saves the f1 videos as an swf but it isn't just the video, it's all the menus as well and I don't think I can recover the video from the file...

You could also try Orbit or DownloadHelper.

The video download helper sucessfully gets me the flv file but whenever I try to convert it (tried two programs) I just get the audio track! Tried that online converter but it stalled.

The dl link is always a pain to find, though, but it should work...

Hey I'm sorry that the video downloader didn't work. I've used it in the past for youtube videos and converted them using the desktop version of that software i linked to you. Maybe you could try it if you haven't already. If you have and it didn't work, sorry about that.

You can check download.com for more converters if nothing works. Just throwing 2 more cents into the fountain. Good luck images/smilies/smile.gif

Pazera didn't work for the f1 files, will try super now. Super has officially the worst website on the web though!

hey, nice to find this thread... I'm trying to do something similar myself... there's a site called fabchannel which offers free streams of all kinds of concerts, ie http://www.fabchannel.com/bloc_party_concert/

I got Video DownloadHelper, but when I open that site it shows no video available.... but as far as I can judge the site is using flash video.

Anyone have any idea?
