If i'm not wrong, it's blue when it's compressed or when the files are protected files. (and on remote hd's and so).

system restore

fixes almost all your problems

Start --> Accessories --> System tools --> System restore
just choose a date before the day it went wrong, you'll have to redo all setting changes you made since then (even whitin some programs), but it won't delete personal files

EDIT: i see your workbar is pretty blue as well, are u sure you didn't apply a blue skin, or maybe your monitor settings are to blue

Maybe you did a "Disk Cleanup wizard" which options to "compress old files"? There's a setting in XP which says "Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color".

Either uncompress the folders, or go turn it off. Tools >> Folder Options >> View

Be careful with the System Restore...

Well, it does affect permorance as it has to decompress those files every time you want to use them. Program Files being compressed = very bad idea.

Yes, it isn't a good idea to let disk cleanup compress files. I used to let it do that years ago and it caused problems for me, so I never do it now.
