Just a question about the PS3, can you just plug in any USB steering wheel to it? I have an old red MOMO and thinking about getting a PS3...wondering if that would work or not.

Don't agree with the 8800GT...The 4800 series has them beat badly.

The 8800GT is hardly a piece of crap though. It can still perform extremely well.

That's an understatement. Okay, it can't max out Crysis at 1920x1200, but it can with just about every single other game.

I run TF2 (Source engine) at 1920x1200, 16xQ AA, 16x AF, ultra high textures, etc. I get 40-60 FPS, if not more.

8800GT is a great card, there is nothing you should worry about..

Apart from fact that ATi 4800 series will knob it silly, there is nothing wrong buying an 8800GT now.

And you've prob read this thead already... link, but personally, I havn't seen any 8800GT/9600GT give up yet.

I purchased the 8800 for two reasons; it's a good card and it's an inexpensive card. I'm gonna be running autocad the vast majority of the time and don't need a 300 dollar card for that, the important thing is that the computer doesn't hiccup while I'm drawing, it can play HD video (top gear whoohoo!), and can rip the shit outta some video for my iphone (top gear whoohoo!). All things my current pc can't do, yeah I will probably play some games, which the 8800 gt is freaking great for, but I won't be playing enough to justify a 300 dollar card. I for one am happy with my choice and plan on taking this extra 200 bucks left in my pocket on something worth while, like a couple of hookers.

If you don't like ATI then you should have at least bought the 9800GTX+.

I'm an nvidia guy myself (packing an 8800GTS right now) but the new 4870(x2) cards look tasty...

Viper, the source engine has always been more CPU than GPU intensive

And even if ATI would get me trip the frame rate, I'd still never ever again buy one.... their drivers/control panel are an utter piece of shit.

^ Me neither... I owned an ATI-branded Radeon 9800 for a few years and it was always trouble. For starters, it had the loudest, most rickety fan in my old case which had 5 fans total... and it overheated at least once every other day.

I can't say my 9800GTX has been flawless, it has shut down the system on me on a few occasions. But I guess this is normal if it happens sporadically.

I'd say the ATI drivers are more stable than NVIDIA at the moment. I always got a nice black screen when attempting to use the NVIDIA drivers instead of the ones Microsoft provides through Windows Update on Vista. Plus their interface sucks major balls, even in the advanced mode.

Always had ati cards since they always turned out to be the best price/value at the moment, never had any problems...

Guess what? ATi is knobbing nVIDIA now in terms of updating and writing the latest drivers. And it's not like nVIDIA has a better control panel, I rekon they are equally shit.

I've used countless nVIDIA & ATi cards, and to be honest, they are pretty much about the same. I just go for the best Performance/Money ratio card, and it always worked out for me.
