Let me rephrase that. Vista and 7 make it easier to fudge your way by with no networking knowledge whatsoever.

I just want to be able to get them to talk to each other. My work laptop can't see shit, and I don't think the Win7 computers can see it either.

Couple of clicks in Win7 and it found my network, setup a share and was flawless. One thing i don't like that it has on by default is password protected share drive access.

Out of curiosity, how do I turn this off?

Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items -> Network and Sharing Center -> Advanced sharing settings, Turn off password protected sharing. Can be set up differently for networks identified as Home/Work and Public, same as all the other options in there.

I didn't have to do a single thing to setup my network on a fresh Win7 install. It auto-detected every thing.

Win7 has a very complex tree structure for finding simple on/off options...this is something XP did really well

I think he just misunderstood the use of the word "toy" in the title. Also what a very odd first post.

Thus, he reluctantly closed the window (after maximizing, un-maximizing, maximizing and un-maximizing it a few times, the close button being that saucily-small button she was), slapped his knee, let out a hearty "who'da thunk it?" and sat back in his chair, reflecting on the amazing new direction his life was about to take...
