It can either stream from the network (I'm pretty sure it can do that - I think early versions couldn't), or play from it's own internal HDD.

I got this Fujila DDV-990 digital video camcorder (10-megapixel) from Hong Kong at $440USD. Well I didn't get it but my parents got it for me while they were there.

I've been looking for a similar model to this but it does not stock in Australia and because my parents haggled and had bought other stuff from the store they went to, they got it at that ridiculously cheap price! It would usually retail at around $1100USD so its a awesome deal.

The quality is superb and the best I've ever had/used! Here are samples of the quality I have achieved while photographing my diecast collection:

Yeah I know all digi-cams can do this but I love how you can plug it into the TV and view everything images/smilies/smile.gif

Hate to ruin your thunder but the last two images look quite noisy to me...
How well does that thing work as a video camera? And when using it for video, how much memory does it eat up?

Nah thats okay, I've never been a proper photographer so I didn't think it was bad for a first go.

The top resolution is 640x480 @ 30fps....I'm not sure how much memory it eats up but the in built card is 32mb. I'm looking for a 1-gig one on eBay now....

To be honest the first one is really impressive for a camera like that. My best mate has a similar camera to this (different make) and although it's one of the features, it really can't take photos except in very good light...

Thats the thing, I'm struggling to get a single good night time shot of the city skyline + Harbour Bridge from our house. I'm fiddling around with all the settings...does adjusting sharpness and exposure matter much??

I remember checking out a similar camera (can't recall the name) that was a super high MP camera/camcorder/Mp3 player/DivX player etc. all in one and it seemed too good to be true. But all the reviews said it sucked....

That doesn't mean your's sucks, but that's just what it made me think of....images/smilies/wink.gif

I really don't see the point of the Sky HD. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't it receive all the channel normally but then add in a handful of extra ones that are in HD?

I mean it is good that you will actually be able to get some cable channels in HD, but, with the exception of the movie channel, they are stations that I don't really care in they are in HD.

Is there a reason that they can't broadcast all the stations in HD and the signal is just, for lack of a better word, "dumbed" down if you don't have the SkyHD box?

They are doing the same thing in Australia with Foxtel, but even worse. They are releasing the system later this year but with only 2 HD channels. They would have to add much more content for it to make it worth the time and effort of changing all my stuff.

Well, I really don't care if a certain series is in HD or not. Well Lost and 24 maybe. And movies are super awesome in HD...

Its quite simple: There isn't enough material! They only start now to produce some stuff in HD now. Take TG: Its still being shot with DigiBeta, so no HD for now.

Its the same in Germany, a sports channel, one for movies and the discovery channel in HD, the rest ist SD.

Biggest point about the SkyHD box: It can record HD!

Is that a TV? It looks like you've got your computer plugged into it - is it sharp? Just asking as we just got a new telly which doesn't like being plugged into a computer... in spite of having the right socket. I'll put a piccy up soon.

And are those Christmas Decorations above the TV? images/smilies/smile.gif

Yes its a 32" LCD, so the picture is as sharp as in a proper computer display. And those decorations are from my parties.
