Well you wouldn't need a new processor if you have q6600...So just a new Mobo, and maybe ram and better psu.

I was thinking more of buy and snap in. If I have to change all those parts then that's going to get expensive. Nforce is like $200-$300 already, a new processor (if i cant yank the Q6600) is another $200, psu is 50-100 and then the vid card is another 200-300 (for which I could completely avoid the ATI and slap in some SLI 8800s).

I'll look into the ATI for now. Thanks guys.

Those price estimates sound a bit high. You will be able to yank the Q6600, its not welded to the mobo socket. Also, if you are going to get an ATI video card, then I would get a p45 such as this MSI P45 Neo LGA 775. For even less, you could get a p35 like this MSI P35 Neo LGA 775.

I wouldn't bother getting a new mobo. Your CPU is still a great CPU. Just get a new vid card and call it good. The latest cards should run on your mobo without a problem, as jeeper said (he's got a 1.0 slot too).

The only thing you may need to upgrade is your power supply depending on how much wattage your new video card needs.
