Good point - I maybe shouldn't have emphasised the overclocking as much as that, although I still want to ramp it up a bit.

So do I! I'm looking to at least get 3.6 GHz from the watercooled Q6600 G0 SLACR. images/smilies/mrgreen.gif

I'm looking at the Q9450 or Q9550 - when it comes out, of course images/smilies/tongue.gif And I'm looking for at least 3GHz from it. I'm not intending to max it out, or use watercooling (call me old-fashioned, I'm sure watercooling is quite safe, but to me, water + electricity = around 700 quid down the tubes).

But I'm looking at a case with ultra-tons of space and excellent airflow, and space for a watercooling system if I take the plunge.

DVI has a higher resolution limit than HDMI but it doesn't have copy protection or audio.

Interesting. Why would I care if DVI doesn't have copy protection?

I went to Future Shop and everything HD-DVD was on sale, quite sad really. Some really cool HD-DVD box sets were dirt cheap too.

We don't care, but the MPAA does. You won't be able to output 720p or 1080p for Blu-Ray unless you're using HDMI and both devices support HDCP.

^ I thought HDCP-capable DVI could also do Bluray?

Yes, you're right. Mainly computers have this advantage but for home theater equipment not many devices with DVI output/input support HDCP.

The quesiton was asked on Digg:

So, what are you HD DVD early adopters going to do?

One person answered:

Step 1: Tell your friends that HD-DVD won the war
Step 2: Sell them your disks
Step 3: Profit

Yes, and it's an awesome combination.

Why don't you have anything else to do?
