I guess if you fell in love with Apple Multitouch once, you can't go back.

You can, and it has two other keyboards, 2.8" Screen and a full QWERTY just means the keys will be small-ish so you either have to be a brain surgeon or have small fingers.. Which no German has.

I just found a bit more indepth review of the omnia, looks like it and the diamond are still basic windows mobile (that looks like windows ce) underneath that basic interface. After android is released, i'm DEFINITELY installing it.

Yeah, both are WM 6.1 phones with an overlay, all the day-to-day stuff won't have you interact with WM as both have redesigned address books, message creation ect..

It just got leaked that WM 7 will probably be out this year.. images/smilies/tongue.gif

If I will be getting the Omnia it will be in the UK. How much will it be unlocked or on Pay & GO?

However a unlocked phone seems to be going to be very expensive. Also, I saw a few videos on youtube and the UI seems quite sluggish and the graphics/menus are very unimpressive.

I know this is mad, but I am really tempted to get a 1st gen iphone.

^^ You will probably be paying around $1000

If you're considering a iPhone it shows the Omnia and most WinMo isn't for you, if you rate UI aesthetics above functionality and hardware you should just get a iPhone..

The iPhone is a fine device but the novelty of it goes away really quickly and you start notice it's shortcomings.

Edit: Some one just emailed me asking what a spare battery for the 3G costs images/smilies/roflmao.gif

I had a WinMo phone before and found that there were hardly any apps for it. Therefore I switched back to Symbian. It seems the iphone has thousands of apps and games. Anyway, 1000$ is way to much. I am looking for something around the 500$-600$.

I'll have to agree with Lilleput dude. I've been using an O2 Atom for the past year or so and there's absolutely nothing I can't do with it. Can't stand the hopeless default mobile "Today" screen, so I install an interface that's similar to the iPhone which does not need using the stylus at all. Also a stylus free calendar and contact manager that replaces the awful mobile outlook.

I'm using Opera mobile for web surfing and it's brilliant. Plus there are many other free and open-source apps and games which you can find at http://forum.xda-developers.com/ So have a look there and you can PM me here or there if you need help in anything images/smilies/smile.gif Just some of the apps I use to make Windows Mobile better....

Haha... images/smilies/lol.gif .... yeah, too bad most of the winmo devices are QVGA, so the resolution sucks, but the newer phones like the Diamond and Omnia are VGA so it should look better.

I have a friend who just bought a TYTN-II about a month ago and he's very happy with it. Not too sure how much he paid for it though.

Oh and if you're really bored, you can play Doom on it.... images/smilies/wink.gif

Ok, so I bought an Omnia over the weekend and I'm loving it! Was comparing it between the Touch Diamond, but I have to say even though the TFlo3D interface is very nice eye candy, it's so damm slowww. It was a live demo set with data on it so I have to say it provides a fair representation of real-life scenarios. It literally took 2-3 secs to change to the next menu.

The interface on the Omnia was almost instant, there is still a slight lag, but when I was comparing it with my cousin's iPhone, it was only marginally slower. Touch interface is very responsive, colours when viewing images especially in full screen mode is vibrant and usual 350MB videos has no jerkiness during playback and looks extremely good in widescreen format. Images during 3G video calls are clear with hardly any background noise and the sound of both parties are loud and clear. GPS works very well; takes under 30secs to pick up your location and of course it's 5MP camera with flash takes decent photos and videos. With full resolution during photo-taking, the inbuilt 16GB memory can hold around 20,000 images and it also came with an additional 1GB microSD card.

Overall I'm very impressed with the Omnia and have no complains so far, a minor problem is that the motion sensor for the auto rotation might be a tad sensitive, though I have not adjusted it yet. But the best part of all is I only paid about USD$260 for it with a 24-mth extension on my current mobile subscription and a trade-in for my O2 Atom. The usual price if I'm not wrong without any contract is about USD$800+ images/smilies/lol.gif
