Default Transferring stuff from 1 HD to another

My PC has 2 identical 140 gb HD drives and one is buggered so the logical thing to do is to transfer the stuff from the broke one to the unused one, so is there a simple way to do so?

Also in doing so will I keep the same shortcuts like F:\Documents and Settings\Jimmy\Desktop\Music\blablabla Because one drive is obviously "C://" and another is "F://" (that being the default, broke one)

I'm not wanting to go into iTunes and see that it can't find all my songs and having to red-add them all 1 by 1, and start my impressive play counts again and so forth with other things.

If you want to boot from the new harddrive I suggest you use Ghost. And yes, your shortcuts will break, if you make it something other than F; Microsoft likes using absolute links for things.

Clone the drive and then change the drive letters?

... I ask Herb Helbig, vehicle synthesis manager for SRT and a member of the original Team Viper development group since day one, if they'd ever thought of adding traction control. "It comes with two," he says, pointing at my feet. "Learn to use them." Got it.

I've done that a few week ago when i switch the hard drive in my HTPC from a loudy Seagate to one or one of those new very quiet Western Digital Caviar Green Power.

The easiest way to clone your hard drive is to install the donor and the receiver in second computer. Otherwise it's a lot more trouble to copy the content of a HD when some of the copied application are running. In my case, since both HD are Sata i just have to open the case of my main computer and connect the donor and receiver hard drive to 2 vacant sata connector of my system. If you use older IDE hard drive you may run short of connector to connect two extra hard drive to your computer. In such a case a IDE to usb connector can be handy (someting like thishttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812161002)

To do my swap i've use Norton Ghost software with great succes. A simple copy paste may also work but you will probably need to change the drive letter after the ''cloning'' is done,
