Bumping an old thread, but you never said what model you had. I have an Aquos LCD (2 actually) and I just noticed an option for audio input for PC connection via HDMI or RGB, under option>PC audio select.
Thats all I can tell you. Did you get it sorted out in the end? |

Yeah, I figured it out. I just bought a DVI to HDMI cable and hooked it up along with the stereo audio.
But for some reason my desktop doesn't output 1080p, only runs at 1360x768, which is why I'm forced to build a new comp. ![]() Oh, and I have the 42" D64. Lovely stuff. |

Did you try forcing the resolution yet? It might simply be that the TV doesn't report 1920x1080 as a supported resolution to the PC. Many TVs have that kind of problems with PCs and 9800 Pro can definently support that resolution. You should try that before wasting money on new hardware only to find out it still doesn't work.

^ Yeah, I tried that to no avail. But I just installed Vista on my new machine with a 9800GTX and it's playing well with my TV so far.

There's a demo for both CoD4 and Crysis if you want to give it a workout

![]() But I'm so far enjoying the GTX. If nothing else, it just looks so damn cool. I have some pics to post in the other thread when I get the chance. |

It's my turn for this problem. I've just hooked up the DVI output of my display card and connect it to the VGA input of my Philips 37PFL7482. When the computer is booting, both the TV and the old monitor were working, but when the computer 'gets' into windows the TV shows "no input". And when I check the display menu, the computer seems to fail at checking the TV, why?

^ Just do yourself a favour and buy a DVI-HDMI cable. It's better quality anyway and chances are it will solve your problem. It worked for me.

Yeah, just figured out that the PC input of the TV is never meant to do 1080p. Bit disappointed by that but now i've fixed the problem by updating ATI catalyst, i can now play the damn thing. Now I'm watching the 720p version of the Polar Special and it looks a thousand times sweeter than all the 1080i programmes I've ever seen on local TV (cuz they make stupid programmes)
I'm simply beside myself now, I'm not sure whether I'd change for the HDMI cable, cuz it cost 68HKD for the DVI/HDMI adaptor and about 120HKD for the HDMI cable, dunno if that's worth the money by now(that's about 24USD) |

^ VGA is able to do 720p natively.
I'd suggest buying the cable if you have a real HDTV. It cost me $18 for a high-grade Samsung cable, off of craigslist. VGA sucks compared to HDMI... if your TV has a DVI in then go with that, but otherwise definitely get the HDMI cable. The 720p Polar Special looks brilliant on my setup now with the DVI-HDMI cable. I was gonna download the 7GB 1080 rip to really max things out, but my FTP client doesn't handle files that big.

VGA can do 1080p just fine. I ran 1600x1200 on my old CRT.
Oh, and you can get a DVI/HDMI cable for like $10 off Newegg.

and I'd like to ask another graphics card thing on this tread, most of the latest cards are of PCIe x16 2.0. Now I don't understand what is 2.0, but my ASUS P5B VM SE motherboard has one PICe x16 slot, is it good enough? or does that mean it isn't even compatible to any 'modern' graphics cards like GF8600GT? [QUOTE]PCIe 2.0 is backward and forward compatible with PCIe v1.x. Graphic cards and motherboards designed for v2.0 will be able to work with v1.1 and v1.0, and vice versa. In some rare cases it is possible that a PCI-E 2.0 card will not work correctly on a PCI-E 1.0a slot. This is only limited to certain video cards.[QUOTE/]
I"ve just read that from Wikipedia. If I got the messege right, my motherboard might just be compatible with most of the PICe2.0 cards? |

Yeah it is compatible, 2.0 cards don't even use the most of 1.X anyway at moment.
