uTorrent brings my network to it's knees! (NOT a n00b "too much seeding" question)
Just yesterday, I have noticed that uTorrent completely takes over my network whenever I use it. And it's not that I'm seeding to the limit of my upload bandwidth as I'm capping it at 15 KBps (120 kbps) where my upload bandwidth is about 400 kbps.
It's my Internet connection -- it's my local network! I have a lot of difficulty even accessing my router's control panel and other devices on the network. I've updated to uTorrent 1.7.2, but it's made no difference. Has anyone else experienced this problem? It's ridiculous! |

what is the maximum connections limit that you use? I Suggest keeping it under 200.

I only got such a problem with Azureus, uTorrent went fine with me. In my case the problem was had to make with UPNP opening, my simply couldnt handle it, after a minute or so the connection is fine again. T

+1 to all of the above. Disable all of the automatic port forwarding crap and keep your max connections nice and low.

also some routers are just crap at holding a connection, I have an old dlink that dies at the thought of torrents.

I have my connection settings at the defaults, and I have a 2Mbps / 400Kbps connection.
I actually think it was a particular torrent; other torrents do not give me the same problem. |

Try disabling DHT, and reduce the number of total connections. I was having pretty much the same problem and that did the trick for me.

Ever considered traffic shaping?
Smooth operation guaranteed and you'll never have to worry about managing your network ressources again. I've been using cfos speed for a while now since I had similar problems while running torrents. My system got to a crawling halt each time I ran torrents before using cfos. With it I don't have to limit anything whatsoever. I love it. |
