$40 a month through Comcast, unlimited download and uploads. I am paying for 9MB download, but with this Motorola SB5120 modem you can see I squeeze alot more out of it.

It's all about your community. For example, my parent's neighborhood is mostly filled with older people, who don't have high speed internet service, therefore their 5mbit/2mbit cable is more like 7mbit/4mbit cable, because the cable company is very lax on the router settings there, because of the low volume. Where I live, which is the same cable company, is an area with a number of townhouses, and a large luxury apartment complex of 20 - 40 year old professionals (call it yuppie if you must), and my 5mbit/2mbit cable is more like 3mbit/1mbit cable at times because of the extra load on the system.

My guess is that jayhawk's comcast office in aurora IL is either very lax on their router settings, he lives in a neighborhood with very little in the way of HSI subscribers, or he knows someone at Comcast.

Or hes doing some "jobs" for Comcast

Yes i see your point now. I'm in a busy part of town and I'm pretty sure everyone is internet-savy and its prob a big load on the system. Annoying when it goes down too...

Also, T1 is alot of lines of 56K connected at once...do they have something like alot of Cable lines connected all at once? I might have asked this?

Actually T1 is a dedicated telephone circuit, that's designed only to carry data, it's not really as simple as a bunch of 56K lines connected at once. But the way cable works, it wouldn't be worth the cost to connect multiple cable lines. Cable companies usually in business areas, will offer businesses either higher speed cable modems or Fiber links into the cable company network (since nowadays most cable company networks are fiber out to the box on the street in your neighborhood).

REALLY? Maybe I need to get me one of those.
Even though I vowed never to buy a Motorola product again after my horrible experience with their cell phones.

Motorola's Cable division is light years better than any of their current competition (even though that may change now that Scientific Atlanta was purchased by Cisco). One thing Motorola is really good with is digital cable equipment.

Seriously; check out this modem. Look at reviews, Ive used it for 6 months now and reset it maybe 3 times becuase of slower speeds.

I live a condo-like community where everyone has a dish on their roofs; in my block of houses I am 1 of 2 people who dont have the dish.
