Default What does my computer have against me?!

In the latest of headaches my computer is dealing me, lately, if I restart it, after it loads Windows, it either A: goes to the login screen, or B: goes to the the login screen, after the monitor goes into sleep mode, and won't stay on when I hit the power button. After a few repetitions of restarting and going into safe mode, it works fine. What could cause this? (I can see the BIOS and the Windows loading screen fine, it shuts off after Windows loads.)

Are you getting any error messages? Any other strange symptoms, however small they may seem?

It could be any of a number of things. It could be a PSU going out, RAM going out (though not as likely if it's actually booting at all), HDD going out (back stuff up just in case if you can) - my own computer exhibited similar symptoms a few months back when the HDD was dying It could be windows related. I recently dealt with a computer that tried to commit suicide by corrupting its registry, although you should get some kind of error message if that was the case. Sorry I can't give you any more specific help than that. My top two suspects are 1) A windows problem and 2) HDD on its way out.

There doesn't appear to be any errors, so I'm guessing it's a problem with my monitor or video card.

Also, in another of my computer's foibles, lately, my mouse has been going crazy. It would: hold the selected action when I go to click something else, highlight the text on a web page without me clicking and holding, not click something unless I hammer the mouse button, etc. What could that be?

Edit: the mouse seems to have finally returned to normal.
Edit 2: Nope, still bugging out...
