Any drive can be encrypted using TrueCrypt, and my mom's been using Kingston drives for the past few years without any issue (they have 5 year warranties, too). She just bought this 8 GB one, actually.

I've heard good things about Corsair as well. The GT series is supposed to be very fast. (The 16 GB version is a bit slower than the 8 GB and smaller ones, however, due to needing different chips).

EDIT: Here's a review of the 16 GB Voyager GT.

I've got a 1Gb Corsair Voyager and it's been great so far. I really like the feeling that the drive is very durable, with his rubber housing protecting it from any kind of punishment it might sustain.

Corsair Flash Survivor FTMFW!

Just search for reviews on google, you will get plenty of positive feedbacks. Water, shock resistance. Data encryption like you asked for, and the transfer speed is up there with the best.

Get the 4gb $35 version. The 16 and 32gb versions are way too expensive.

They check your laptop's contents at american airports. If a password required screen comes up, they ask you to enter your password. If you refuse, they make your life hell. Also, if they see any kind of disk-image-looking-thing on your harddrive, they could be keeping you for hours. If you're not American, they can even turn you back.

Obviously, they've never heard of Rapidshare. images/smilies/lol.gif

I've been checked many times at the American airport, and not once they checked my laptop.

Weird.....

Obviously different airports than I used, TSA couldn't give a stuff. The chick in Houston was more interested in what Australia was like that time of year (I left my passport in my dads appt and used my victorian drivers license for my domestic travels)
