| I'm not Moe | Everyone here likes to play the "which car with this budget?" game, and lots people here are also watch aficionados. So if you could buy a watch for less than $200, what would it be? I've got a Fossil right now that I got as a gift 4 years ago. Over 35,000 hours of wearing time later (it was off for a few hours to get the battery replaced), the metal pieces that indicate the hour broke off and got stuck in between the hands. I'm nearly positive that the watch is screwed now because turning the dial results in a scraping sound and no movement of the hands ![]() So, $200 USD is about the limit of what I want to spend. I'm thinking that Fossil is the route I will take again because they are good watches and cost next to nothing. But I want to see what you think. Oh and no digital, yes I know I can buy a Timex for less than $10 with a hundred different features. |

| Dispenses buckshot medication for all undead patients. | Unfortunately the company that makes the watches I really like only makes them at the $1,000+ range. Some of their limited production watches are over $10,000! If anyone is interested, the company is Maurice Lacroix. I already own one of their watches (from before they got so expensive) and it's my favorite watch. I would rather have a Lacroix watch than a Rolex.

Timex 40011: ![]() Simple, black, velcro, not a fashion statement, analogue, 24-hour markings, backlight, glow-in-the-dark hands, date adjusts without having to advance an entire day in time and it's about $50 or so. Does it for me, anyway. |

Car: '71 Mercedes-Benz 280S Rep Power: 21 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I likes me watches. I bought my first 'proper' watch - a Citizen - when I was 17 and I still wear it today. It's very good, keeps perfect time, looks nice, quite robust, long battery life and it was cheap.... I'm sure my next watch will be a Citizen. Since I bought mine they've shifted towards eco-drive which doesn't need a battery and I think all their watches are eco-drive now... When I bought mine only the more expensive ones were like that. mine was about $250. Can't point you to any specifics tho because I don't know what kind of watch suits you. For example; Because i'm the whitest man on the planet I look ridiculous wearing gold and I'm not quite able to carry a leather strap because i'm a bit ungainly and daft-looking. The Citizen website lets you search by gender, price, material, face style etc. I'm not pressing you towards that brand by any means but the site might give you a few ideas about the style you're after. http://www.citizenwatch.com/COA/English/browse.asp This isn't mine but I wish it were: ![]() ![]() I like the simple style watches more I like that smooth style because it doesn't catch on your clothing or anything. |

| Citizens are good, as are Seikos. I've sold a few Seikos and repaired a few more, so i know that they're pretty well bolted together. I have my eye on a Seiko Honda F1 team watch.

Those android watches are interesting, though they are bit unconventional for my tastes. Plus I don't think I would be able to find them in stores so I can see them and try them on. I'll look into St. Moritz, this is my first time hearing about them so I'm unsure of whether I could find them at local jewelry stores. From pictures, they look quite good. Maurice Lacroix, I'd look into it if I could ever afford one But I'll agree that there are more unique watches out there for the price (or less) of a Rolex. Zenith makes amazing looking watches IMO for several thousand $$ less than a Rolex Submariner.Timex! I can admire them for sticking to their guns about function over everything else. But if I just wanted a device to tell me the time, I have my cell phone. I don't care for jewelry and such, but I do like the aesthetic aspect of watches. I think Citizen is the best bet out of my choices. I'll have to try a few on but that Eco-Drive looks excellent. And color wise its similar to my current watch. If I am going to spend money on a watch in the near future, I think it would be a Citizen or a fossil. I like Seikos, my dad had one for a while, but they are little out of my price range for even the cheapest ones. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I would murder someone for a Lacroix. My father owns a camera/photography business and we process literally thousands enlargements for a similar local small business owner who happens to be in the jewelry business. We went to his shop to get a gift for my mother, and whilst perusing the cases I saw he had quite a collection of those watches. I just got my Burberry one and was quite happy with it, so I wasn't in the market for another high end watch. But now that is all I can think about, and my inner fag wants one so bad. I think next time he is over our house to pick up pictures, I'm gonna so see what sort of deal he could swing for me since we do so much work for him. Side note, this has to be my favorite Lacroix: ![]() /Sorry bout the threadjack ![]()

| I'm not Moe | Jack away my good fellow. Here is my favorite watch at the moment: ![]() My cousin bought a similar one and it's simply gorgeous and it feels even better. He had a Tag Heuer that feels downright crude in comparison. Here is a ridiculously large picture so you can scrutinize the stitching of the leather. http://www.zenith-watches.com/img/4_...s/big_32_7.jpg |

![]() Casio Edifice. Oh wait, I already have one. ![]() Fossils are good, a bit heavy though. That Casio above only cost $160 though, and I'm a sucker for useless chronograph dials. Timex makes terrific digital watches, if you like outdoors shenanigans (I won't ask) then go for it, but not with a Velcro strap. I lost mine when I flipped my kayak. ![]() <- ...totally awesome.

| Dispenses buckshot medication for all undead patients. | I own one right now, I haven't had it all that long but I do like it. It's a heavy watch, but solidly built with a thick leather band - probably twice as thick as most other bands I've seen.
