Which webcam to buy

A friend of mine is looking to buy a webcam, an area that I am afraid I know nothing about. I have looked up reviews online but can never find one that everyone recommends so I thought I would come here to get some of the wisdom of our members.

They are looking at spending up to about AU $100 and I was looking at something like the Microsoft Lifecam VX-6000 USB or one of the Logitech QuickCam family.

If anyone has any knowledge of this area, or personal experience with a good package, please let me know what you think.

i have a logitech quickcam, cant remember the exact model number, but its one of those basic ones. And they are quite reliable, never really had a problem with it, but dont expect magic from it, picture quality isnt the best with the max resolution @ 640x480, but overall its a decent webcam. oh yeah.. it has built in mic as well. So it should solve your problem if you are a skype or msn messenger user.
