^ yeah, I've got a list of about 20 programs I couldn't live without on my PC, and I've only got around to installing 6 of them. Although that may be due to the fact I am spending most of the time studying (read- procrastinating so i don't have to study
)

Why doesn't Cisco have a razzle-frazzle 64-bit VPN client?

So i had ubuntu and winvista on my desktop. Instaled 7 over the vista partition when I got it from MSDN. Today I tried to run ubuntu for some reason or another...and ran into driver problems b/c i havent used it in months (since the day I isntalled 7) and have upgraded my wifi card since then.
Win 7 makes everything so easy i just dont have the desire to keep a linux box running anymore. theres jsut not enough advantages. Been usin Win7 for ~3 months now. Still no complaints.

Using WMP12 for the first time, and it's freakin fast. Imported my modest ~45GB of music in seconds, updates info and moved songs to playlist instantly, really just awesome. Mind you, this is all being done with a 1.7GHz P4 with 2GB RAM, so not exactly a powerhouse.

Windows Media Player 7 was responsible for destroying it's rep, it's actually been ok i've found for the last couple of versions (not the best but not bad for most users)

I used 10 and 11 and liked them, but 12 really seems like a leap forward in terms of speed, though the interface is even more odd than in 11. I don't understand why they feel the need to hide the Now Playing tab from me. I like going back and forth.

Redownloading Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. Downloaded the N version and didn't want that one
. Thank god I get 10 licenses on every different version of Windows 7.The only driver that it didn't pick up automatically was for the Canon IP3000 printer but Windows Updates had that one. This has got to be the easiest install in ages that I've done. |

Both hard drives in my PC are about to fail, so since I have to replace them and reinstall all my crap anyway, I figured I might as well make the jump to the 7, so I picked up a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate.
I know, I know, you can get the Ultimate stuff for free, but im too damn lazy... and I like the cool black box I'm looking forward to DX10, I upgraded to a card that supports it ages ago, but i've been stuck with 9 because of XP. hopefully everything else is as good as i've been hearing.

I don't care for WMP12 over 11. As mentioned, the now playing tab shouldn't be as hidden and shouldn't keep rehiding. I generally choose what I want to play via windows explorer and then right click to play in wmp, so I don't like that it defaults to the library feature that I never use. I also don't like that it can't minimize to the tray like 11 and control it from there and see the little popup window for track info or videos. I used that feature constantly, and I'm annoyed without it- the little aeropeek or whatever thing is not the same at all.
After a few months of 7 on my laptop though, overall I'm very pleased. No problems at all really. On Vista I used to get 2 hours of battery life if I was on power saver mode, the lowest brightness, and did very little. Now I'm getting 3+ hours on balanced mode, somewhat dim but very usable brightness, and active use. Color me flabbergasted. Depending on how Christmas goes, I may be upgrading my desktop, and 7 will be installed on it over my much loved XP media center.

I run windows 7 since august, it's the best windows i ever had, it runs really smooth, i recommend it if your hardware can run it fine .

Just click "Change Adapter Settings" on the left to see the equivalent of XP's "Network Connections".

I'm upgrading a few computers in a bit, they all have 64 bit processors and more than 4 GB of ram and am wondering if there are any drawbacks to using 64 bit 7. I heard in the past that some programs don't work (like flash or certain games).

Have been using 64bit 7 Pro for a while now, no problem whatsoever. All normal win32 stuff works just fine, and there is actually some software compiled extra for win64 (like Java), that actually gains better performance. Do it.

If you have more than 4 GB of RAM, it would be a complete waste NOT to go 64-bit. Otherwise you might was well just throw one of those RAM sticks away.
