I think I may give this a try next week.

Should I go with the 64-bit version? Or stick with the regular?

Regular IMO. There's nothing 64-bit yet besides IE 7 and everything that's 32-bit doesn't run all that well. Plus you'll find yourself with more driver issues as well.

The progress box looks much better. That's been a weak spot of Windows forever until now.

So is there anyway I can use the new Vista Internet Explorer on my XP? Probably not, but if there is a way...let us know because I'm real keen to give it a go. My current browser is giving me the shits.
I tried the IE7 beta in XP quite a while ago. To be honest with you, it's terrible. I don't know what it is, but IE7 just doesn't seem to work very will in Windows XP. In Vista however, it just feels different. I don't know why because they're essentially the same, but the Vista version is better somehow.

I agree with this. I've tested both the x86 and the x64 versions, and driver support for the x64 version is just as bad as it was for XP x64. Nothing really takes advantage of 64-bit yet, so I'd say save yourself the headache and install the 32-bit version.

Yeah that dual booting is easy. just set up your partitions, install XP first, Vista second as normal and Windows Setup will take care of the rest

just remember this, if you do this it will be a pain in the ass to do dualboot as everytime you want to change OS, you have to change boot priority on the BIOS. The same thing happened to my bro

No you don't. What you do is you set up your partitions, Install Windows XP (always the older version first). some of you will have a pre-existing install, so just resize your partitions with partition magic. Then, simply install the newer version of Windows, in this case vista but it works with XP as well onto the new partition. The Windows installer will recognise the Boot Record from the older version of windows and create a bootloader so that when you boot up your computer you get to choose which Installation you want. I've been doing this for years, I originally did it with windows 98 and windows XP in 2001, and most of the time my computer has had 2 operating systems on it ever since. Now is one of the few times that i'm only running one. I still have a small partition spare if i need to change that though.

I think he means when you use a seperate hard drive rather than partitions.

partition magic is a solution as well... but I still advise you to backup your data first as I know several people who's partition magic screwed up and the HD had to be reformatted.

and on a side note: My vista is working, I've installed it on 3 computers in my house so far images/smilies/biggrin.gif, the speech thing is awesome images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Well I had to shut down Aero, neither Microsoft or Nvidia have drivers that work properly yet. I have faith that Nvidia will have the drivers sorted by the end of the month though. Now, it's blazing fast. images/smilies/lol.gif

I know it's been cleared up, but I'll just clear up any remaining confusion. It doesn't matter if you have more than one HD. If you install Win XP on one, leave it plugged in, then install vista on the other, Windows setup will still set up a bootloader. Essentially two hard drives are still just two partitions. there is an MBR on each partition and Windows setup recognises them equally and sorts it out for you.
