Some people have been wishing to donate to the site to express their appreciation for the time and effort we invest in it, so Quiky and I thought using vB's subscription feature would be a good way to handle that plus reward those who donate.
However, I need your feedback. But first, to head off the question before it's asked -- does this mean I have to donate to use the forums? Hell no! I'll never make this a subscription site or any of that bullshit. This is merely a way for people to donate and reward those who do. Now, on to the questions for you: How much? I'm thinking like $5/mo or $50/year is a nice round number. Thoughts welcome though. What will people get out of it? Currently, we're thinking a special "Donors" forum for those who donate where 18+ material and other stuff (such as private FTPs) could be posted. Additionally, maybe a fancy username like this (Quiky's work): ![]() Thoughts?

Sounds okay, i'll surely send you some $$$$, along with some
.With the private FTP shit you should watch out that the shit you're doing is still legal, i'd hate to see you go to jail for trying to do us a favor. Fancy usernames would be nice, as long as they're still-human-readable (as opposed to most captchas)

I wouldn't be running any FTPs personally and really, it was just an idea thrown on the table. Nothing is finalized at this point.

Not so fussed about that either - I'm quite happy to donate and not have any visual acknowledgment - but if that's wanted then maybe just a different colour for the username? And to head off the question before it gets asked - not in favour of donors being able to create their own titles - the way they're handed out here is something I've always liked.

Unloved and lacking a title
|
Yeah, I'd consider it, sounds good.
And perhaps instead of the crazy font names, maybe just a symbol next to regular user names? |

People who want to contribute will do so nonethless, having that option is what we've been lacking for a long long long time now.
I doubt many would for the sake of the 'extras', infact I'd rather they didn't. What we provide here is enough to warrant some kind of donation, even if its just one-off. |

It's just as easy to have the donations via vB rather than a button, so we might as well do something, if nothing more than a colored username.

How about just change the color of the username, like Ryan Morrison's.

Well, the extras are mainly a "thank you" for distributing your wealth to us..
There may be some special perks that won't be discussed here..

Something to consider, as I saw this on another forum; some people will equate monetary contributions as a license to bully other non-paying members. They would troll, flame, spam and then hide behind the fact that they contributed money to the site.
So, rules would have to be implemented.
