| I've noticed there's quite a few people lurking here (currently 133 people viewing the Top Gear forumm 45 viewing General Automotive; 342 total), but there's a pretty noticeable lack of posting for that number of people being actively viewing. What's the deal, lurkers?

Remember that search engines often link to forum entries, so people will come and read. Additionally, a lot of registered people only start posting later on, they only register for downloads or to gain access to all forum areas. ![]()

| I think we all lurked for a while before posting. Even though my join date is 2006, I started being active only this year.

| There are A TON of guests on Final Gear. Kind of strange. The most I've ever seen on other forums is a 1:1 registered to guest ratio. We're at less than 1:3 right now. Probably boring and pointless information to most people. I like to keep track of statistics like that, though. I find it pretty interesting. I would LOVE to gain access to the forum stats page on vBulletin for this site, just to check out the different trends.

| I admit that I lurk quite a bit around here, but I usually reserve my posting for when I think I could make a decent contribution to the thread. I won't just post for it's own sake. I know a fair bit about cars but I'm not nearly as technically-inclined as some people here, so in those cases I read instead of write.
