New Episode Thread Discussion

Hi all, I'm starting this thread because it's getting rather annoying that I, and many other Brits and Europeans can not discuss Top Gear when it has aired. We instead have to wait sometimes more than a day until the torrent is released before we can even begin to talk about what we saw, at which point we're greeted in the thread by people posting their download speeds.

I, for one, am really sick of it and think firstly that download speeds should not be allowed to be posted in the thread and secondly that the thread should be opened as soon as an episode has begun to be aired - that way those of us that can watch TG in real-time can start to post our thoughts.

How hard can it possibly be for others to not go into the thread until their download has finished? I mean, they manage it for the few hours between a torrent being released and their episode downloading, so why can't they manage it a bit longer and allow us to start discussions.

Seeing as this site no longer releases torrents, surely it makes sense for the thread to be open sooner, this should also cut down on all the talk of download speeds anyway - I mean, it's episode discussion, not torrent discussion after all!

Come on Viper, and those responsible for this site, break the tradition for this one.

Maybe have a "spoiler" section, then, for Brits who have seen the broadcast?

To be honest, its pretty petty to keep the talk until the torrent is seeded. OK, the torrent is seeded, but STILL noone has it! Makes it a silly rule!

I prefer a spoiler section. I wont visit it until i DL and watch the show. i visit the thread in the pre-episode discussion to see when the torrent will be released, if it will be delayed or not etc.

I think you should be able to discuss the episode whenever you like to. This whole spoiler crap is getting out of hand. I don't know why everyone on the Internet is so obsessed with it. Don't you talk about movies etc. with your friends ? I surely do and I'm not going to cry if someone mentions that the ending or particular of a movie/show whatever sucked/was good even if I haven't seen it.

For heavens sake. If you don't want to know about it just don't click the topic. You know when the episode airs so just stay out of the thread for eight hours or so if it's unbearable for you to learn that car Y lapped the track in XX:XX:XX.

Okay... the forum has a whole separate section for episode discussions.... and each episode has its own thread.... what's the big deal? I live in the states, and I honestly don't give a crap whether there's a thread about the ep before I've watched it... I simply won't go into the thread until I have watched it.... what's so hard about that?

Just try to keep discussion of the ep to the specific episode thread, simple enough!

If it is on the Specific Episode thread, then it's pretty likely to have a spoiler. That's why it isn't called a Pre-Episode discussion. So, open the thread when it airs, or even before that, so when it airs whomever chooses to talk about it, is able to.

Of course the download speeds must be out of the discussion. Who cares if your download is slow? It's the internet, deal with it.

I would argue that if you don't want spoilers then stay away from the discussion thread until you've seen the episode.

Although I don't get as upset as Overheat I can see where his irritation comes from.

I agree with you here Overheat, if people haven't seen it yet, then don't come intp the thread. If you do, you're likely to get 'spoiled'. So what.

Why, when a torrent is released? = Cuz 95% of the forum has seen the episode, AFTER the torrent is released and then has a chance of watching the episode ...

Why, no DL shit talk allowed? = Cuz I reeeaally don't care if you are only getting 3 KB.S DL speed .... or 90000 KB-s for that matter ...

If this poll turns out so that the episode discussion starts right after it has aired, and not after the torrent has been released, I'm not gonna be bitching about it, seriously ..

I just figured, since the majority of this forum gets their TG eps. via torrents ... whatever ... don't mind me images/smilies/oops.gif

Why dont we use computers to resolve this problem?

Every sunday at 9:00 a thread will be created and everybody whose location is UK will be able to view it and discuss, other countries will have the same access but 9:00 the following day, 12 hours after it was aired.

and btw, TG is almost over, more than half was already aired.

Haz: I can understand why some people may not like the decision to open the thread later, but can you also understand why some of us don't like it the way it is?

It is because of this that I have opened this thread, to bring democracy into the equation.
