Default The Forum Rules

Alright, seems a need to make some rules. These are subject to change at any time and it's your job to keep yourself informed of them. Ignorance of the rules is not an excuse.

  1. No spamming: That means no repeated, pointless posts (quality, not quantity!). Posting referral links or things like that relating to sites such as free ipods or whatever also is considered spam. Please don't do it. This includes "IB4L"/Post-count posts!

Also, edit your post rather than making multiple posts in a row (without anyone having replied since your last post).

  2. Post quality: We aren't grammar nazis, but please don't post like a 12 year old AOL user. Punctuation (the period, comma, etc.) is your friend -- use it!

  3. Posted images: No gross stuff, no porn/nudity/etc. (and that includes inside spoiler tags), and keep the filesizes reasonable, not everyone is on Cable or ADSL. The exclusion to the work-safe rule is of course the NSFW section.

  4. No flaming: I don't care how much of an idiot you think someone is, they have a right to their opinion. This applies to even those people who think F1 is better than WRC (not that they are idiots, they're just ignorant). images/smilies/tongue.gif

  5. No racisim and the likes: There is a 0 tolerance with this kinda stuff. You have a right to your opinion, but not to express it here. Do so and you will be banned, period.

  6. No Advertising: This is a forum, not a place to advertise. However, I do make some exceptions, so PM me and I may let you.

  7. Signatures: They shall be no taller than 175 pixels INCLUDING text, if you don't want a picture then it's like 5 lines of text, no wider than 600 pixels and may not contain nudity (tits and stuff from down south). Must NOT induce epileptic seizures (repetitive, flashing patterns). The filesize must be less than about 100KB -- that means no 3 megabyte animations!

  8. Swearing: I don't give a shit, but let's keep it under control. images/smilies/wink.gif

  9. Duplicate Account: You are only allowed one forum account. There is no need to have more than one. If you don't like your current username, PM me and I will change it for you. Multiple accounts are allowed per PC however if you share your computer with other people and they want to post on this forum too.

  10. Warez: No movie, game, application, and other warez links. We don't need the MPAA/RIAA/FBI/whatever after us. TV shows are fine, but nothing else.

  11. Bumping old topics: This is NOT allowed in most cases, especially if you have nothing to add to the thread except a random comment. In most cases, it's better to just make a new thread, but use your best judgment. Threads in "Specific Episode Discussion" and "What's That Song?" can be bumped of course though.

  12. Spoliers: If you are going to spoil something about an episode, do it like this:

    Quote:
It was a good episode, but...
This is the spoiler here. You'll have to click to read it.
That will appear like this:

    Quote:
It was a good episode, but...

Spoiler Text: (Click here to toggle display)
This is the spoiler here. You'll have to click to read it.
  13. NO REP WHINING: No complaining about your reputation. That means posting complaints about it, new threads on it, etc.

  14. NO TORRENT SITE REQUESTS OR INVITES: This should be self explanatory. Due to abuse and a bunch of spamming idiots, if you request an invite or join and ask people for invites, you get instantly and permanently banned.

  15. NO POSTING FFFFUUUUU: It is stupid, and you will get banned.

If you need clarification on any of these rules, feel free to post in this thread or PM me. They're subject to change at any time and there may even be some rules that I forgot to write down.

Could the signature pixel height be less than 500? Even on a high resolution monitor I find signatures more than 200 pixels high distracting.

It's much easier to browse a forum filled with text rather than large signature images.

Hahaha, ya.... I know... people like their large signatures images/smilies/tongue.gif

I just find forums are easier to skim through and much more organized if signatures are given a limit of say 200 pixels high and 700 pixels wide. That should give most people enough space horizontally and vertically to fit everything in.

What screen resolutions are people running? Is anyone as low as 1024x768?

i am actually, i switched from 800x600 a few weeks ago and I like it, its the perfect size for desktop pics, etc.

and as far as the sigs, HUSH UP!!

just kidding, it makes users easily recognizable, you can already tell me and geekdiggy by our sig when browsing.

maybe try 1024x768, i think its the best size and maybe the font will show up bigger and big sigs wont matter.

I was asking if anyone was as *low* as 1024x768. images/smilies/tongue.gif
I run at 1280x960 or 1600x1200, so 1024x768 is pretty low for me.

As for being recognized by sigs... isn't that what your avatar is for? images/smilies/mellow.gif

Kudos Viper for making it 200.

Your's is around 225. Too tall really for my liking, but it doesn't bother me enough to force you to change it.

600x176 seems to look perfect for me, and every site i post on says it's a good size so try to shoot around those dimensions when making your own sig. nobody likes seeing a member whose sig takes up twice the space his/her post does

Not to sound elitist or anything, but I think my signature and Renesis' signature are of a very good size. If for example I write 3 lines of text (an average post), the height of my post is around the same size of my signature.

Oh, and just by eye-balling your post GeekDiggy, it looks like your signature is much larger than twice what you posted... images/smilies/tongue.gif

Although 200px is a decent height, I still prefer signatures around the 100px height range.

I have art skills... I'm actually a university student doing a degree in visual arts images/smilies/biggrin.gif

As a true starving artist I will make the offer of creating signatures for people in return for episodes of TopGear\FifthGear. Anyone up for the offer? Just give me a car and\or topic and I'll go nuts images/smilies/mrgreen.gif
