There are only 2 aircraft ever fielded that could exceed Mach 3. The first obvious is the SR-71 Blackbird. The second, the MiG-25 Foxbat, built to intercept another Mach 3 aircraft, the XB-70 Valkyrie.

Random fact 1B.

The only remaining XB-70 is at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force (a kick ass place!) that's about a half hour from where I live and I go there all the time. It's amazing standing behind the Valkyrie and seeing 6 jet exhaust tips lined up in a row. 8) They also have a MiG-25 and 2 SR-71's, along with a lot of other cool stuff.

Random fact 1/0:

One XB-70 crashed when a chase aircraft got too close and was pulled into it's wing vortex. The fighter flipped over across the back of the XB-70, sheering off both vertical stabilizers. To the best of my knowledge no film of the actual collision exists on the internet.

Is that in Dayton? I remember visiting there a bunch of times as a kid (back when I lived in Illinois) and it was an amazing place, I need to remind myself to go there again sometime. 8)

Yep it's in Dayton. They've recently added two new buildings and really updated the displays throughout the museum. It looks absolutely amazing now! Best of all it's free to get in.

Yokoi was promoted to product developer after the toy was found to be a success. So technically, you can credit a grabby-toy as the invention that allowed the Game Boy to come into existance (and blame it for the Virtual Boy).
