Default Go to Torrents only? - UPDATE: I'll use both

Well, the videos use such a HUGE amount of bandwidth that I was already going to start putting them up as Torrents (file for a P2P program called BitTorrent).

Now I'm considering just dropping HTTP and going to only Torrents. What do you think?

I'll check back in a few days before deciding about the future of this site...

Torrents would be great. I don't mind waiting for my weekly Clarkson does. images/smilies/eek.gif

I'll have Torrents for sure when I get the site revamped and back up, but I can't decided to drop HTTP (normal downloads) or not...

Though i would be a minority in this situation, some educational firewalls (such as mine) do not permit bitorrent systems. So i would not be able to download the episodes anymore images/smilies/sad.gif

Either way is fine...normal http downloads would be better for me but you gotta do what you gotta do.

But for the love of all humanity find a way to continue hosting!! images/smilies/smile.gif

Torrents would be just fine for me,
but you might exclude some people unable to or unwilling to use Bitorrent

If it's a simple port block, try changing the IP. If it's a packet filter blocking it, then you're screwed. images/smilies/sad.gif

Perhaps someway to apply for HTTP access for those without torrent ability or even better, a HTTP mirror system for distributing the load (great, more code - randomly selecting a mirror from a variable length list of mirrors >_<).

I'll probably go with mirrors, but suggest people use the torrents.

I've been looking so long to find current Updated Topgear videos and I was glad to have found your site. The only way some of us are able to see TopGear and 5th Gear is through you, I wish I knew what this torrent thing is all about. But either way I'll support whichever decision is made. 8)

Same here actually. If it wasn't for my supplier of these videos who's in the UK, I wouldn't get to see them either. images/smilies/biggrin.gif

It's a great P2P software. I'll write a good tutorial in my FAQ once the site comes up. Now worries. images/smilies/wink.gif

Yeah, I'll stick with both, but make a strong push for people to use the torrents. images/smilies/wink.gif

Any way to get the files is good, but I guess I'd have to get some information if there's another way than http or ftp .
What I'd really like to see is the Fifth Gear episode with the RX-8, but I guess I'll find it sometime in the future.

i'm with him, here at school everything it blocked...p2p, BT, some ports so even FTP and irc are sometimes blocked...

if you could keep http that would be awesome, just reccoend that those that can use BT do so...

like others, if it wasn't for you, i couldn't watch this either...

great job mate images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Default Unfortunately, i need http/ftp open to download

The only place where I can get files that big, is in college, and there, only http/ftp works. It's impossible to make p2p work.
BTW, thanks a lot for making it available to all of us.
