You really should figure some way to cover this for the rest of us. At the last Lemons autoblog did somekind of cover, but that wasn't enough...

This is closely related to donations too. It's not fun to send your money away for something you wont be able to follow... I'll give you 15$ if someone will do a detail reporting of the event

I don't mean that. I mean live cover. With positions (and collisions

) report, maybe even webcam. You can set webcams on mobile phones these days (n95 can anyway), with a fixed relay server somewhere, that would be great. I know the people participating are busy with other stuff, so maybe someone just spectating could do it please?

You missed the obvious suggestion: mail Top Gear and tell them to buy a car and race it as yet another TG special

In all honesty, I'd gladly drive if I could make it, as I'm yet another wannabe race driver with more talent than money. However, I can't exactly afford a driving suit even, and my parents would NEVER let me go to Detroit alone

I just can give my moral support for you and also give a list, a f.a.q. list, with some problems to prevent on that car (though I think that you having some mechanics there's no need of it or even you know it... but it stays here):

Well, I can see what can be done broadcast wise. I have mobile tethering with my Verizon phone, so I may be able to put a live updating cam in the car, or in the pits watching the track. It has about 16KB/sec maximum bandwidth, and a limit of 5gb/month, so that would be a bit tight. Anyone got suggestions on software/relays?

I'm not sure how you're going to get an internet connection IN the car, but I can definitely get some hosting or streaming setup so people can at least watch it live, or even watch it after. Let me know.
