This is what I meant, the gradient didn't work out to well so I put the arrow there. Heck I think it looks better without the arrow. No sure what font your using but I would most likely increase the stroke, cause it's pretty hard to read.

That might be quite cool actually.

One minor point: why the leading zero on the series number?

If it was to fill the space between the text and the arrow, I'd say there was no need for it with the original striped background.

Consistency since we have two digit seasons (10 & 11).

In keeping with the rollover idea since that seems to me to be the easiest way to do this, We keep the yellow black, move the text to the middle, make it bigger, and put a car from the season on the right for filler.

http://pic.phyrefile.com/b/bl/blayde/2008/08/10/03rollovera.png

On hovering onto the image, it's changed to a preview of cars from the season running the length (i'll fill in the blank space with more stuff if this works.)

Mock a few more up for me like that and I'll make a demo page so we can see how we like it.

I dont think the car alone with the season number looks very good :/

Yeah, I don't really like it either after seeing them together: http://test.viper007bond.com/geartest/

I still think we should just go back to the original and ditch the background on the text, as I've been saying all along. images/smilies/wacko.gif

Something like this, which I think looks pretty good, or is at least a start:

How about a slow gradient, so that the change isn't so abrupt, but still much more visible than before

http://pic.phyrefile.com/b/bl/blayde/2008/08/11/01grad.png

http://pic.phyrefile.com/b/bl/blayde/2008/08/11/01grad2.png

http://pic.phyrefile.com/b/bl/blayde/2008/08/11/01grad3.png

I think even in a list that's much more visible than the original set

I still think no black/yellow arrows at all would be best.

Now that I've been looking at it for a while, the yellow & black arrows do make it harder to read - it's better with a gradient, but still not as instantly readable as just a black background.

I know people are saying they are hard to read, but personally I don't find that it's a problem at all, and it's only the season numbers that are different when you think about it.

How about removing the word 'season' and just have the number, making the chevrons section smaller. The fact that they are the TG seasons could be mentioned elsewhere on the page. images/smilies/smile.gif

^^ You don't actually need to mention it's TG since the url and the link that it leads from both say it.

Any way, you people need to finalise it up, either just one arrow like Viper said or the current fade in gradient, or if you want ANOTHER choice just the season number, no need for the word 'season'.
