Re: Twin Turbo V6 camaro. I have to wonder if real world mpg is any better on these vehicles. It all comes back to how you drive. Seems I just saw a Road and Track blurb on this exact topic. They compared a number of cars that had made this swap, smaller displacement engines with turbos or twin turbos I believe in the case of BMW and their actual mpg were not any better. I believe the article was titled the Donkey Show.
That noted, on the marketing front I think you're right. People believe they're going to get a nice mpg advantage with these smaller displacement v6s and that's all you need to sell them. Perception trumps reality. If I were in charge I think I'd go for smaller displacement v8s. The V8 seems so tied to the Muscle car. What they should really do is just go buy a new ford mustang, but that's a whole other discussion. Porsche Xbox wheel is awesome! No GT-R = uber fail. As in not including it was fail. Sync seems like that was last year? I'd never buy the 6 Panamera. Well, if it was really cheap but in general I don't see who that market is. Of course they sell plenty of v6 Cayennes so there's probably a market. I'm not sure it's as ugly as you claim. I'm waiting to see it in person. The price of the line needs to be down in the Cayenne range. I know this is an old clip, it seems to me the prices have been announced and they are in the Cayenne range. Also no V10 iirc. 2009 Boxster S with PDK already! Same Road and Track I mentioned early had it in another comparo. Now I have problems with that article but those aside yet again the Boxster S gets the top spot. Here's a challenge, find a magazine that's done a comparison with a Boxster S were the top spot was not earned by the S. On the flip side, I don't think you'll find a comparo with a non-s where the non-s does better then second. |
