An episode focused solely on this would be nice.
Question is, what cars do YOU think will be appearing at car auctions in the future?
I'll start off with a first-gen Audi TT..

I don't think so, as they made as many as they could sell, and most of them sell for under $15k now, some for under $10.
I'd say the Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe, as they are only making a few hundred. Also, the Saab 9'3 Viggen and Honda S2000CR
I would say something like a fully functioning 300ZX TT.
I have a quick question: Are the seats on the solstice any good? I sat in the Sky's seats, and those were absolutely horrible. It was like you were sitting on a giant spring.
Phaeton, it has an interesting story, it was a flop, its rare, its a good car, and it was VWs first ever top of the line luxury car.
Taurus SHO and 8-series
No Ferrari's since the mid nineties, nor any Lambos from the Gallardo on.
355 being the only exception. Maybe.

the mb 190e 2.3 16v cossworh
the mkiv R32
e46 m3 since it's the last of the "true m3's"
pt cruiser turbo. its ugly its rare and that's what will make it iconic.
I think cars like the Acura RSX and Hyundai Genesis sedan could become future classics.

For mass-produced cars, we're going to have to hope that they all get tuni-fied, leaving only a few clean originals. (Take the Supra, for instance.)
PT Cruiser Turbo is an interesting choice...
I'm half-sure that the MB CLS class could be popular @ pebble beach within a decade or two.
given the choices...
Any 30 something or older knows what engineering truly is, unless city hindered into a yugo since the 80s...
Transverse is out. no such thing as a classic. turbo or not, nice rare body or not. Given the genre of what I have seen of garage 419, real is a must, or extreme. that is rarely oem exactly. The strangest think coming from a foriegn car that did not sustain high priced classic is an older pre-EJ engine subaru. no joke. Reality is its best friend..
Funny enough, the babbles for pages and pages at forums is how much oem had to be hacked to make a new car enjoyable, all while youthful big mouths without a clue put down what is and always wil be the real classics. All 3 main bearing boxers is something I have not seen on the show, or the dreaded EGR generation with cars so simply hacked back to a normal powerful late 60s carb standard. How bout that 1970s triumph convertible? that is just oine victim hacked by those who know better. I vote the show goes towards educational. True backgrounds that led to modern day. That void is as depressing as a carpocalypse. The facts aren't, once known. Even my 1700 dollar monte carlo SS was hacked from original into the 165 mph monster with mufflers...and it still is only a 1700 dollar car. 165mph even today has the "ohs" and "ahs". where is the 396 chevelle? the only non-siamesed bored masterpiece gone forever...stuff like that would be nice. Diesel v8 turbo in a grand national. Holy cow.
Be it my age of 36 now, I beg for more history, humble or not. The bimmer 2002 I just learned has a similar rear end as an old subaru...who knew that the subaru made it even stronger for full diff locked AWD.the 2002 is now a 20000 dollar automobile to buy restored. It is hilarious putting pieces together of car's past. This is only one tidbit I'd like to see more of, cars and how they are mingled together as world standards, fail or not fail and evolutions as we now it. hardly a mitsubishi to talk about mind you...It is a "garage" 419 right? I like the shows, hope it can stay going without influence. Holy cow I just typed alot...

Z4M Coupe
No seriously, amazing car, they wont make another one like it, questionable looks but it gets sexier as it gets older, and only 1,815 were ever made. To put that into perspective, there's currently over 10,000 Audi R8s on the road.
I think the Saab Turbo X will as well. Only a few in the US
Try not to double post.
Building off of the Z4M, how about a Z8?
the Z8 is such a beautiful car, and it already holds its value very well, too bad the frames flex more than a stripper on the pole![]()

If your show is missing a Shelby Dodge turbo car of the 80's, it will be severely lacking. One tops every sleeper list, and anyone that asks about future classics knows that a Shelby Dodge Omni GLHS will more than likely become worth a chunk of change.
And my friend has an original 84 Shelby GHLS in his garage, another an 87 Shelby CSX he races.
We participated in the Shelby Bullrun in Texas, where we reviewed the Terlingua Mustang, and someone there had a Shelby GHLS. I kid you not, he kept up with a bunch of new Mustangs.... Brave driver for sure, but a quick car, especially for its age.
I think for a foreign mass-produced car, it has to be an imported car that wasn't available in North America. An Evo I or MkI GTI, for examples. For american cars, the C4 ZR-1 comes to mind, since it has the only DOHC Chevy small block ever made. The SVT Cobra R also comes to mind because it was the only Mustang to ever have an IRS and the first to use the SVT developed 5.4 L mill used in the GT and GT500. Then, of course, there are the new (and possibly last) muscle cars which were early off the assembly line.
Nitpick: the LT5 is a completely purpose designed engine from the ground up really, the only thing it shares with the LT1 is the displacement and engine bank angle. if you look at the block you can see the similarities in design thought, (with respect to oil passages) but other than that it is only really related to the other LTs in name.
on the subject of future classics:
Pontiac G8
Grand Prix GXP (it fits the top gear definition: it is rare cause few were sold, and interesting for being one of the most powerful FWD cars ever made, which surprisingly doesn't torque steer very much if at all, even under a hard launch.)
