Default What should we do with a Nissan Cube?

We're getting a Cube for a week in November. I'd like to hear some constructive ideas on what we should do with it. I've got some ideas of my own, but I'm also well open to suggestion. Rules:

1) The Cube must return to Nissan in the same condition it arrives in.

2) The episode can't cost more than $300 to produce.

3) Must be possible within driving distance of LA.

The forum is now open.

I just had one as a rental. I hated it, and I usually love Nissan's. Just sayin'.

They might not notice if you crush it and then pretend that a refrigerator box is the car when you go to return it!

I was going to suggest somehow getting a giant freezer chamber, put the Cube in it, then over it with water until it freezes and createss a Nissan Ice Cube

But if it goes bad it might not return the car in the same condition...

I was going to suggest finding a very large cardboard box, park the Cube inside, and fill it with packing foam. Then you can start the episode with the box setting there, with Nissan info printed on the sides, so you can unpack it, spilling those packing peanuts everywhere.

Since the whole point of the car is too maximize interior space with a small car, I'd show the car maybe zipping around LA traffic. Or driving around a large parking structure at LAX or something, just to show how nimble/peppy the car is (or isn't). And pack it full of stuff/people/Ikea etc. You can park it next to some dumpsters and pretend to lose it. images/smilies/tongue.gif

The cube has been praised for a lot of interior space, why not stay in it for 24 hours while going from some point A to point B only driving on city roads?

I think you’re gonna need cheerleaders on this one Matt, to maintain the ratings.
e.g. How many cheerleaders can you fit in a Nissan Cube?

Good luck with this one.

too bad that you couldnt get a cube in new york can take it to grand prix new york and compair its lap time to the smart car and the old mini. it would be like a battle of the compact cars. i dont know if you want do the same thing that top gear does. just a thought though

Lend it to a small family and let them take their kids to school in it. See how the family likes / dislikes the vehicle. Is it a vehicle that is family friendly.

I know there is not any snow out your way but if there was you could take it to a parking lot and do some donuts to see how well it handles and controls. You could probably take it to a skid pad and do some hydro planning and see how it handles.

With this testing you can determine a few things. Is the vehicle safe enough someone would consider putting their family in one?

Drive it on the highway and with semi trucks wizzing by how badly does the vehicle blow around? Is it solid or is it shaky?

Load up a bunch of people and go to an Oktoberfest? Or see how well it is for tailgating for 4 people going to a game? Does it have room for the beer coolers, the grill, nerf football, lawn chairs?

Edit
Take it to the hill course and sandy drifts you tested the Raptor out in? See what the vehicles real limitations are.

neutral drop or clutch drop it for some burnout action. Or plastic tray drift it.

I dont have a great big idea, but you should try and see if you can find ANY kind of functionality whatsoever out of that weirdo window, and also, how much does that window cost to replace? I can see raunchy hoodlums bashing in windows like that just because they looked at them the wrong way.

Try and make the cube look as good as possible by comparing it to something REALLY bad. Or take it autocrossing. Should be a laugh, and the car should survive it fine images/smilies/smile.gif
